Audi A6 2.0 Sline 140/ merc A150 avantgard - A6 vs A150 18 Jan 2011 (Forum)
Two extremes... Considering a 55k 2005 Merc A150 avantgard to replace a s-erg Mazda 626 we've had for 10 years... Merc comfortable, great nick, maybe overpriced at £5500? Then my brother offers his Company Car - a 2005 Audi a6, 130k on clock, immaculate inside and out - he is particular!! -
56 Mazda6 2.0D sakata - Mazda6 DPF light flashing plz help 30 Oct 2010 (Forum)
The previous owner had it as a company car and did over 25k a year and i also drive mainly motorway miles and over 2000rpm and since ive had it the oil level has actually come down slightly and is below full so no problem with oil level and no power loss. I think the problem is the DPF wasnt reset after the service which was Mazda said aswell but they said they wont reset it unless i get an oil filter change aswell which will cost £170, rip off. What should I do? Can it be reset from an independant garage? What if i leave it until my next service? -
Audi A3 Sportback - Audi A3 sportback - is the boot big enough? 27 Oct 2010 (Forum)
Hello all I'm shamelessly looking for your expert advice.... My husband and I are looking to trade in our much-loved Mazda MX-5 for something a bit more practical. We're considering a 2008 Audi A3 Sportback because it seems like it's fairly sensible, whilst not being too dull. We're considering having kids in the near future, and need to know whether the boot of the A3 sportback is big enough for all the kiddie stuff we're going to have to buy (as and when we get to that stage)! -
Volkswagen Golf V - Petrol or diesel 29 Jul 2010 (Forum)
My daily commute is around 18 miles, and longer journeys through work and at the weekend would be fairly rare. The appeal of the diesel is purely a matter of torque. SWMBO has a 2002 Mazda 323F 1.6 GSi, and that's frankly horrible to drive if you want to climb a hill or overtake anything. I have a budget of around £6.5k. For a 2.0 TDi, that suggests I will have to accept high mileage. -
Ford Ranger - Cracked head after dealer returned it with no cool 18 Jun 2010 (Forum)
I am aware the over heating occured 6 years ago but the Ranger has only done 52K. The dealer is blaming the Mazda engine claiming they have a none fault. Thanks for your time and any help you can suggest Paul Batten -
Mazda6 - Car dealer has damaged my car 19 Mar 2010 (Forum)
I have just had my car delivered back from a Mazda dealer who was doing some warranty work and as the driver gave me the keys back i noticed a 12inch mark on my back bumper damaged down to black plastic, nobody was going to tell me about it, I had washed and polished the car the previous afternoon so i know it wasnt there when they picked it up. -
Buying untaxed car from a dealer 16 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Also, it probably won't have been driven since it's MOT in January this year. Would I be able to test drive it on the dealer's trade plates without a tax disc? Second car: Mazda 626, being sold by a different dealer. This is showing on the database as being unlicensed, with a Date of Liability of 5 Nov 2008. I thought cars were only allowed to be either licensed or SORN'ed these days? -
Vauxhall Vectra C (2002 - 2008) - Vectra estate at £5995 - any good? 27 Jan 2009 (Forum)
I wouldn't normally consider a Vectra, but at this price it seems rude not to. Other obvious choices are Mondeo estate (petrol) Mazda 6 petrol. We are family with a canoe to carry/ bikes on the back etc, so need some space. Any advice, gratefully received, thanks -
Reliable diesels - is there such a thing? 16 Mar 2008 (Forum)
I've a (very) unreliable Ford Focus estate which, over the past 6 months has cost me more than £1,000 to keep on the road and has been off-road at the garage for more than 5 weeks - it's had ECU and fuel injection problems, clogged valves...you name it.... From reading this forum, the 130bhp Mondeo seems dogged with similar problems, ditto the Mazda 6. I'm after a diesel. It needs to have a big boot for the dogs. It needs to start in the morning without worry. The Skoda sounds great but I've been warned off them by a Skoda forum because they are quite low to the ground and I go over grassy fields reasonably regularly over the summer. -
Write off - what to do? 12 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Hi guys - we've been told the wife's car is a write off as it's beyond economic repair having been shunted from behind one evening by a runaway parked... -
Reliable cars? Seems not 5 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Interestingly he tells me that the two garages that he gets most business from locally sell Renault and wait for it ....BMW. Toyotas not what they were and Nissans no better. Honda still pretty good and Mazda consistent. Merecedes he tells me isn't bad at all but A class is not up to scratch. I asked what he was now driving - an Audi S3 that has been excellent. Interesting chat though. -
Puma vs Civic vs 323F vs 406 20 Jul 2006 (Forum)
So, Focus 1.6 LX, 108,000 miles 51-reg facelift I reckon I could get about £3,000 for it. So for £2,000 I found 1.4 Puma (98S), 1.5 Civic 3dr (97R), Mazda 323F 1.5 Gxi (98R) and 406 Coupe 2.0 (98S). Now the latter is a bit out there (running costs, ins, fuel), and has covered more miles than the rest (100,000 vs. 50,000 for the rest)...but the beauty and practicality draw me to it... what do other backroomer's think? -
Renault Scenic 29 Oct 2004 (Forum)
I then insisted on driving another one which did exactly the same thing I have been driving for 35 years, I have 2 other modern cars (a Honda Civic and a Mazda MX5 ) neither of which have any such problem The garage will take no further interest saying that that's the way it is Where can I go from here? Renault UK simply send me back to the dealer There is clearly a design fault with this model The garage of course as always say that no one has ever complained before Has anyone else out there got a New Scenic 1600 manual with a similar problem? -

Volvo Audi - 2 Ltr petrol non Turbo options plus VAG 1.9TDI 11 Jan 2023 (Forum)
The 3 hour round trip to the office has made me thing to stick to normal cars as it would be much more calm and comfortable driving. Talking to myself/at you/with you once again! Edit: Mazda 6s are about but almost all the 1.8 ltr, same for the 5. The Toyotas in budget look trashed and tired sadly. -
Mitsubishi Colt - car buying advice needed! 26 Aug 2015 (Forum)
VW passat - although it'd be good to get something with a smaller engine to keep the running costs down - price range: £1500-£4500 - ideally we would want a car that's not too old, but then again, it depends on what the older car would be :) - it'd be good if it was a good looking car :) that's always a plus :) here's cars that we;ve shortlisted: - mitsubishi colt - mitsubishi lancer (apparently it's VERY reliable) - suzuki splash - suzuki swift - subaru impreza (apparently it's VERY reliable) - honda jazz - honda civic - honda cr-v - chevrolet lacetti - hyundai coupe - hyundai sonata - mazda 6 - mazda 2 - mercedes SLK - mercedes C - mercedes A - skoda roomster - skoda fabia - smart fortwo coupe - toyota corolla - toyota rav4 - vauxhall corsa the thing is, a lot of those cars with automatic gearbox are a rare find! -
Suzuki Vitara - One forum favourite replaced by another 12 Oct 2023 (Forum)
We’ve decided the 2012 Mazda 3 has to go. It’s never actually failed to get us home but it’s proved to be an expensive second car to run. The latest bill was last week for a service, MOT and replacement of a badly rusting rear suspension member. -
Citroen C4 Cactus or Dacia Sandero Stepway - Which? 31 Jan 2023 (Forum)
Being an advocate of the keep it simple (kiss) principle he was a little concerned with small petrol turbo engines, hence l mentioned perhaps a Mazda 2, though this doesn't appeal. An additional consideration was the cam belt/chain, as replacement costs can be expensive & vary considerably. As far as l know the Citroen has a belt, which runs in oil & has had some issues. -
What one to replace first 17 Sep 2017 (Forum)
The question is what one should we first & when & what with ,for the Astra the wife's we have a budget of up to £3,000, she would prefer an auto and may consider a smaller sized car as long as it could cope on motorways For mine budget is £7,000 I would prefer an auto this time and need similar sized boot to the Octavia We will look at Focus, Mazda 3, civic any others ? https://flic.kr/p/XBFZVs https://flic.kr/p/XBFZEh https://flic.kr/p/Wq1Ych
