  • Suzuki Vitara 1.4 - All wheel drive 20 Apr 2023 (Forum)
As a passenger I find the 1.6 too low powered. What I can’t work out is whether the 1.4s all have Suzuki’s viscous coupling 4 wheel drive. I don’t need or want 4WD. Looking on AT some are described as ALLGRIP so are 4WD but nowhere in the advert tech spec does it say so. If I set the filters for front wheel drive I get the non ALLGRIP listings but I am non sure if these are conclusively fwd or just because ALLGRIP has been omitted from the model name.
  • toyota gt86 - Driving With Loud Music? 24 Oct 2019 (Forum)
Since childhood, I am afraid of driving vehicle with loud music because I am witness of my cousin's terrible accident. Now, as a mother of grown up girl who recently passed her driving test, I am scared if she uses loud music. Whenever, I talk with her said, mom, I only go claim music not the loud and fast tracks but as a mother, I know her love for fast and loud songs.
  • 2017 Hyundai Tucson 2.0 TDCI Premium SE auto 4x4 - Problems on a nearly new low mileage car 13 Mar 2018 (Forum)
The manual did say if the car is used on short journeys, town driving, start stop traffic driving etc it may request a service early as seems to have happened here. I brought this to the attention of the Hyundai dealer, their response was stunning! The said it was a car programming error from the factory and they would reset the service light without servicing the car!
  • Strangest fix to my issue and still have no idea w 25 Jan 2018 (Forum)
Great I presumed this will fix how it feels to drive! Take it a drive and it drives a little straighter than before but still feel something is up with the front passenger side where I hit the pothole.... So take it to garage b for a confirmation the alignment is good...
  • Winter driving advice 27 Nov 2010 (Forum)

  • Driving with Achilles injury - advice/experience? 6 Jun 2009 (Forum)
I've been referred to the physio for further inspection of my foot and whatever treatment is necessary, but in the meantime, I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience. Is this common? Could you make adjustments while driving? How long did it last? A forum search finds someone who had a complete rupture in their left foot a few years ago, but that's all. Anyone had any right-foot troubles? Obviously only I can judge whether or not I'm safe to drive, but it would be useful for me to know if this is par for the course, and how long I can expect before I get better.
  • Quick getaway from Central/South London to Gatwick 21 May 2008 (Forum)
So I'm looking for advice on parking conditions and likely driving times around 3:30-3:45 from stations around the southern end of the Northern line. There are no motorways to utilise: can one make good progress over the A217 (or even possibly A23/M23, though I don't remember the A23 being great for driving).
  • Letting SWMBO drive...... 9 Jan 2008 (Forum)
Well went up to a friends last night, had a few drinks as my missus volunteered to drive back. Now why is it when the missus drives your car, even if you have had a few drinks, you become instantly more alert, and dare I say it, nervous! First of all she has to adjust everything, yes I know its the correct thing to do but seat moved forward and back tilted further and even the lumbar adjustment got turned.
  • Advice re young person learning to drive 2 Apr 2006 (Forum)
I am very reluctant to try to teach him myself, one because I am the world's most nervous passenger and two because even in the best of circumstances these things are always fraught with problems. (I remember my own Dad teaching me, with horror). But, driving lessons costing what they do, I think I am going to have to bite the bullet and do most of the training myself, followed by a course with a driving school to get him ready for his test. Insurance is obviously an issue.
  • Citroen C4 Grand Picasso - Picasso Grand C4 vs Touran vs Smax 27 May 2021 (Forum)
/ efficient / EAT6 box from '15 seems to be turning point on an acceptable drive touran - smallest but like a tardis / boring / pricey / most reliable? smax - biggest but best to drive apparently / again reliability / higher running costs   if buying new might go touran but all have good/bad points. with all, 90% sold as diesels, but we do mostly town driving which seems to be an issue when you read around. other thing is manual vs auto, the budget scares me off auto boxes a bit
  • Be very careful when driving in Virginia 1 Nov 2020 (Forum)
I am in favour of any active or passive device that enhances my chance of remaining uninjured but I am little worried about the applicability of their research. They monitored the driving behaviour of 241 drivers in Virginia, who covered a total of 2 million miles in 1 year. Despite knowing that their driving was under scrutiny, they had a total of 82 crashes and 761 near misses!
  • Ford Focus Zetec - Transmission issue 1 Jul 2020 (Forum)
After turning the car off and waiting a few minutes it reversed ok, and I’ve just had a few goes driving into and out of the drive and it’s been ok. About 30 mins later I took it around the block a couple of times. The first time I went to reverse on our road it again played up, but as soon as I went into neutral and back to reverse it was fine, and it’s reversed fine 3 or 4 times since.
  • Buying advice needed - 2x adults. Hatchback? 11 Feb 2020 (Forum)
Afternoon all,  I'm presently in the market for a new car as my current is unreliable and too costly to repair. I do minimal driving during the week - perhaps 5/6 round trips of less than 10 miles (food shop, gym), but do a monthly drive between Liverpool and Bristol (round trip of approx. 360 miles). I am looking for something reasonably comfortable to drive, reliable (as far as a make/model can inform reliability) for around the £5,000 mark.

  • Renault trafic 1.9 dci - Renault Trafic 1.9 dci100 boost and smoke issue 14 Oct 2012 (Forum)
Hi all My trafic smokes on start up, for the first 10 seconds or so the revs are 500-1000 and almost stalls. the if you rev it in neutral it hesitates between 2500-3000 and white smoke fills the sky. if you try and drive it smokes at the same revs and then after 3000 it feels like the turbo kicks in. after about 5 mins driving all is fine, it drives well and smoke is gone but sometimes it goes into limp mode. so far i have cleaned egr and maf ( which is new and i have tried it with another maf in case mine was duff), leak test on injectors was fine, changed fuel filter, 2 of the 4 glow plugs need replacing and the lid of the air filter box doesnt seem to fit properly.

  • Ford Mondeo - Irritating (clutch?) problem 23 Aug 2012 (Forum)
I have had this with one other car, a Daewoo, which was exacerbated by a very slow drive-by-wire system (shared with other smaller GMs in my experience) that meant that in order to avoid the clunk, you had to wait a second or two while changing gear, which drove me spare. Thankfully I didn't have to drive that thing on a day-to-day basis but this car is my daily driver so this problem will drive me to distraction if not fixed!
  • FORD MONDEO ZETEC 5 DOOR HATCHBACK 2L Petrol 2002 - Ford Mondeo 2002 Petrol Cuts out whilst driving 11 Nov 2011 (Forum)
Further diagnosis shows that no fault codes are generated. Sometimes the fault will also appear temporarily when driving over a bunp/pothole but it does not always need a stimulus to make the fault occur. does anyone have any ideas or suggestions as to how the likely fault can be identified?. Thanks in advance Riq
  • Volkswagen Golf V (2004 - 2008) - Would you buy an ex Driving School car? 8 May 2011 (Forum)
A friend of mine is a driving instructor and mentioned that within the next 4 weeks he was looking to change his vehicle...an '06 Golf GT Tdi 3dr in black, with 140k on the clock. It is immaculate, obviously FSH, no accidents, and has to date been faultless.
