  Went to Blackbushe today to check out the topcar - as the HJ review, some very good prices - I'm not quite ready to buy yet (I have 6 months left on my current leased car) but intend to buy something nice and opt out of the company scheme. BMW 5-series seemed particularly good value today. I had to go off to a meeting so missed two cars which interested me - did any one catch their prices? First one was the delivery mileage X type (TC049) and the second was the BMW 540 Estate (Executive Direct 001).

  It seems the new craze is to nick MINI badges (and tyre valve caps). My friend has had three nicked from the tailgate lid. Three replacements from three separate BMW garages have cost £8, £12 and £15. Some questions : (a) Why the different prices for the same item ? (b) Why such a price anyway for a bit of fake- chrome plastic with a sticky back ? (c) When kids were nicking VW badges during the Beastie Boy era (circa '86) didn't VW end up giving away replacements FOC to bona fide owners, and can't BMW do the same ?

  I've got a 728i E38 '96 BMW. I stupidly purchased a set of original BMW 18" 15- multispoke alloys which I was assured would fit - I drove 200 miles to pick 'em up, tried the back only - and aggghhh!!! On getting home and fitting the fronts I find they foul on the callipers.

  I had a 30k budget to spend on my latest car but what is the point? Tell me what a Mondeo or Focus doesn't do that a BMW or a Merc does? I had a last series Modeo V6 for 70000 miles and it was better in every respect than its C-class predecessor. If you are so insecure that you need to see the BMW or whatever badge in front of you then suggest you see a shrink.

  I brake but it still tries to move, I put the handbrake on and its still trying to move. What is this? It's a BMW 320i, used, 2012 model, its an automatic. I'm worried that I'm going to have an accident or get flashed/recorded and done for going through a red light, even though I don't fully go through it I get into the junction before the car eventually stops.

  March 2021 we purchased a used BMW from a main dealer.  Sales guy told us the car had 2 previous owners (we would be third).  Verified this with a copy of a HPI document which shows mileage and number of previous owners.  Virtual tour of car done before purchase and all transactions done over the phone due to Covid restrictions.

  A couple of weeks back, the CEL popped up on son's 2018 420i.  I checked for fault codes, none was stored.  A search on the BMW forums indicated that it’s not uncommon to get a CEL with no codes on the F30 cars, and that it often simply resets itself. No problem, it was due for its first service anyway, so booked it in and mentioned the CEL had been lit for a couple of days.

  Though I think I have already decided to buy another set of alloys 3] Do the 17 inch alloys I am buying have to be special alloys to use with run flat tyres or any standard alloy will do 4] Most online wheels and tyre sellers will state which wheel and tyre are compatabile with your car. Is it OK to use off market alloys on the BMW ? Thank you for your help

  More generally: I will in time have to replace my 2002 BMW 320 D Estate.  It has been a reasonably dependable, practical but rather uninspiring vehicle.  I would normally start looking for a diesel replacement (second hand) but not necessarily the same car - but would you now opt for petrol?

  Hi guys, looking for some help with diagnosing an issue on my BMW 330i N53. I have recently had a rough idle/misfire problem on my car, i replaced the spark plugs in an attempt to try and solve the issue, however i had to swap back to the old ones as i purchased the wrong plugs, i did notice that the bank 1 plugs were very sooty, also the misfires are occurring in cylinders 1 to 3, mainly cylinder 3.

  The primary requirements are- Good on fuel economy (I hope for +50mpg on a 70mph motorway cruise) Likely to be reliable covering high mileage General Running costs should be affordable   BMW hasn't actually been on my list to look at. I've been keeping an eye out for a 1.9tdi Skoda Octavia. But a friend said I should take a look at a 320d. I was a bit dismissive but having checked out auto trader there do appear to be some which are pretty good value.

  Hi All  Last night I have been unlucky to have 'bumped' into a new BMW car in a tunnel. Basically all the vehicles had to stop due to traffic and I was unfortunate to have made a sudden stop which led to my car 'touching' the front car. There is a scratch on his bumper  (my front bumper touched his car's back bumper, which gave it a primer scratch) .
