    So why would anyone spend almost six times as much on the example shown here? Because after 47 years in storage and with a mere 190 miles recorded, it’s something of a unique offering. Almost certainly a record price for a standard Minor 1000 saloon, a cool £17,000 was paid by the new owner when VWW 756F – first registered in July 1968 – went under the hammer at the latest sale by Yorkshire-based CW Harrison.

    The second RS2000 is finished in Cordoba Beige and has covered just 1500 miles since 1992 and has a total of 34,000 miles on the clock. It heads to action from long-term storage and has had just three previous owners. Ten MOT certificates date back to 1992 to verify the mileage, plus an original brochure and handbook. It is expected to fetch between £35,000 and £45,000.

        Finally, a 1984 Fiesta XR2 was supplied by the Ford Employee Scheme back in the 1980s by a friend of the current owner’s family.     Now the car will complete the 1.16-mile Goodwood Hillclimb course on 12-15 July. Resurfacing after more than three decades in storage, owner Sean Kiernan worked with Ford to revive the movie star car and it was unveiled at the 2018 North American Auto Show, Detroit, in January. Kiernan, who inherited the car from his later father in 2014, will be joining the car as it makes its European debut at the world-famous Chichester event.

    The car's first owner, a Mr JJ Dolce of Salt Lake City, Utah, barrel rolled the car at the Bonneville Speed Trial in 1959, not long after he took ownership. After its time in dry storage, UK classic car restorer Mike Ball of Beacon Garage and bodywork guru Ray Miles, of DMR repair centre, commenced their intricate restoration project.

  • Lotus Elan Sprint project sells for £25k 3 Aug 2016 (News)
    The car, which went under the hammer at H&H’s classic sale at Donington Park on 28 July, was expected to fetch £12,000-£14,000. The price came as a shock as the car had been in storage for the past 14 years and was a non-runner. It had also been converted from a fixed-head coupe to a drop-head, but that didn’t deter keen buyers. Another strong seller was a 1987 Ford Capri 2.8i.
