  • Dacia/LPG 1 Jun 2020 (Forum)
I was never a fan of the 0.9 tce, having tried it in a Clio. On the latest Sandero, they offer the 1.0 tce  bi-fuel (petrol and lpg)  engine. I'm not particularly interested in the lpg option (I only do about 9k pa) but I can't help thinking that a 100 hp engine in the Sandero could be a good thing.  Recently I test-drove a Duster with the 1.0 tce 100 engine and it was, to my mind, ok if not sparkling.

Hi.I am considering getting my X-Trail converted to LPG as i only get 29mpg.However i am getting conflicting views when asking for quotes online. One garage has said that the car has "severe valve seat recession"and that it will last 8-10000 miles even with oil injection(like flashlube)and then a £1500 repair bill for new exhaust valves and seats !

  • 3.5 V8 rover lpg conversion - help 6 Aug 2003 (Forum)
I've got an ex met police riot bus LDV LWB twin rear 400, twin carb, no cat, 22k miles c/w 3.5 V8, a sweet runner returing 17-20mpg, which compares favourably with plenty of R/rovers. However, she's an obvious LPG/dualfuel candidate. I've been told that being carb she has to have an induction type system which, unless fitted by someone with a lot of experience, could mean I sacrifice a lot of good things for a lot of hassle.
  • Spare tyre laws 11 Jun 2001 (Forum)
My brother-in-law has just had his car converted to LPG. For the conversion, the company has used an LPG tank that fills the spare wheel hole. They have told him to keep his spare in the garage and have supplied him with a tin of "approved" sealant, "as used by the Police, you know, they don't carry spare tyres any more".
  • LPG on the A1M 25 Oct 2011 (Forum)
I found a Total one nearby to the Newark BP just off of the A1 (by about a hundred yards or so) but frankly it's a desert out there ...LPG wise!   Coming off on the A14 I found a Shell at Fenstanton so thats where I filled up. I can do up to a 180 miles between fill ups but why risk running out.  If you do run LPG with a smallish tank you neeed to apply a lot of forward planning peeps.

hi there, i bought an LPG converted Volvo v40 ('99) in Jan 2007. the dealer assured me the conversion was done properly but the very next day it went POP! my girlfriend was so keen on the car we decided to just use it on petrol for a while until we could work out the problem, this was / is my first LPG car...
  • Dacia Dual Fuel Prices 17 Aug 2021 (Forum)
I see Dacia have dropped the price of their dual fuel (petrol & LPG) cars to exactly the same as their petrol only equivalents. So presumably the customers are not prepared to pay a premium (as they did for diesel when they had diesel models across the range) No space for a spare wheel with the LPG tank though kinda spoils the whole proposition too.

  • 53 Astra Estate Petrol /LPG 12 Mar 2006 (Forum)
Hi, I have an Astra estate (53) petrol / LPg car (works car) 2 weeks ago i was having my dinner in the car (mobile engineer) when there was a popping noise and lots of steam coming from under the bonnet. The top radiator hose had blown. After the garage had fixed it i noticed the heaters were blowing cold when stationary, warm when moving so I filled up the coolent system with water.
  • LPG Escort 6 Feb 2007 (Forum)
This winter has made me more like Victor Meldrew than I would like but at least I can now look at the arrival of crocussses and daffodils despite or maybe because of global warming and reassure myself that our political masters are striving to improve things for all of us ! Meanwhile in the real world I have a 51 Escort van with an LPG conversion which doesnt want to switch over to gas. It has 100K , runs perfectly well on petrol but cuts out when switched over even though the gas tank is full. I suspect its a solenoid/filter problem but before I dig too deeply under the bonnet I wonder if anybody can suggest anything which will save me time.
  • LPG Conversion of Volvo 850 7 Mar 2002 (Forum)
After a year the car failed the test on emissions on both fuels and it was retutned to Thirsk where it was found that another control box was needed. After fitting the petrol mpg returned to 30 but the LPG figure has never been better than 16. I am hoping to return it to Thirsk again. I spoke to another 850 owner last year who had the same problem. Is the engine control system over correcting and not able to take the conversion without the computer going haywire?

  • Left Hand Drive Car 26 Jan 2006 (Forum)
Hi all, Got a car which is left hand drive, which could come over to the UK to be registered and used. It uses LPG already so almost makes sense as the conversion has already been done, and the cost of LPG in our area is still around 39p/l. My question is, will the insurance company have a field day quoting me silly money just because it is a LHD?

  • to LPG or find a diesel to run Veg oil? 28 May 2007 (Forum)
I do about 400 miles a week, mostly short journey, not sure if the veggie oil is a good option for it.... But the LPG option will cost about the same, conversion i have been quoting about 1k, if its the same consumption, then I will be looking at 7p / mile on a rover 420 or similar for a diesel... Can someone shed some light??
