N/a - Automatic and manual licences 7 Dec 2015 (Forum)
I understand (I may be wrong) that having passed the LGV test in an automatic vehicle, one is then also entitled to drive a manual LGV. The DVLA site states that 'you need to have a full car licence to qualify to learn to drive a bus/lorry'. I assume this means a full manual car licence? -

Toyota Auris - Toyota Auris automatic gearbox 2 Jun 2023 (Forum)
We are looking to get a second hand toyota again and are thinking of either the Avensis or Auris with an automatic gearbox. I'd like the Avensis but not sure if it's too big a car for us (wife is not sure about parking it on our drive) so the Auris is smaller and more manageable. My question is, was there any particular the Auris had problems with its automatic gearbox or are they pretty much reliable regardless of year it made? -

Audi TT Coupe and Roadster (1999 - 2006) - 03 3.2 New automatic transmission computer 13 Apr 2009 (Forum)
Hi I think my TT has developed a problem with the computer that controls the automatic transmission as, intermittently, the car suddenly really struggles to apply to the power from the engine, instead sounds strangled and accelerates really slowly. If I did have to replace the automatic transmission computer, does anyone have any idea what sort of bill I'm looking at? -

Proton MPI 1996 - automatic gearbox fluid change 23 Mar 2010 (Forum)
hello Does anyone know a rough price for an automatic fluid change on this car? it's an old Mitsibushi design of some sort. Just over 70,000 and never been changed aFaiK. Seems to shift oK and is smooth. So for cheap motoring it makes sense to try and keep it going that bit longer... -
Ford Mondeo II (1996 - 2000) - 97 2.0 automatic gearbox faults 25 Jan 2009 (Forum)
The CD4E automatic gearbox has not achieved the best reputation, often giving up the ghost at 80 -90,000 miles (see posts on this topic) My question is: What is the first symptom to appear? I always believed that slipping in reverse was an early indication...is this out-of date? -
toyota mmt - automatic or not? 10 Apr 2006 (Forum)
I've searched around the web and some reviews of the Toyota MMT imply that it just gets rid of the clutch pedal - i.e. you still have to change gear manually. Other reviews imply that it can change gear automatically. Toyota's web site gives no details on how it works. Can someone put me out of my misery? -

Semi-automatics. Real fuel consumption 9 Apr 2011 (Forum)
We are used to understanding that real world fuel consumption figures can be worse than the official figures for manual cars, so we can factor it in when choosing cars. But what about semi automatics? Do we get an extra hit on fuel consumption if we drive in full automatic mode? If so, someone intending to drive their car as a full automatic would be wrong to compare the official figures from a conventional automatic with those from a semi-automatic, as the semi-automatic would have an unfair advantage if it had been tested when driven manually.
