Vauxhall Astra Life - ASTRA Life automatic gearbox in Sport Mode - steve adcock

Hi

I have a 2009 Astra Life estate with a automatic gearbox. In sport mode it will only select 1st and 2nd. In normal mode the gearbox goes up and down through the gears.

Any ideas on what's the problem?

Possibly nothing wrong with the gearbox.In sport mode you need to give the engine more throttle to make the gear shifts work higher up the rev range.

Have given it plenty of welly but wont go higher than 2nd

May be an idea to take it to an auto box specialist and ask for an appraisal. If it shifts ok in normal mode,I would be inclined to leave it alone.Any major repairs to the autobox could be more thsn the value of the car.
