  • Corolla uneven rear tyre wear 28 Sep 2006 (Forum)
It is not and the tyre on the drivers rear side wears normally. This means a rear passengers side tyre lasts about 10k miles. However I have has the alignment checked and they can find nothing wrong. Any ideas would be welcome what to look for next.
  • mend the roads! 11 Apr 2006 (Forum)
Now that the new tax year has started, i hope that my local District Council will find it within themselves to authorise PROPER repair to 12 miles of A417 east of Cirencester. The surface and general condition of the carriageway is deplorable. Having had to re-align my suspension again i'm not best pleased. I wonder what the money (that was earmarked for repairs), has been spent on over the years? Sorry to rant on.
  • MOT Failure Question 29 Jan 2004 (Forum)
Hi BR's, I have a Mondeo, 1994 L, that has failed the MOT on headlight alignment due to the tester not being able to "get a pattern" from the headlight. I have never heard this before, I was told that this is caused by the headlight turning yellow inside, or condensation, or something wrong with the bulb. Can any of you more mechanically minded tell me if I am being fleeced or is this pukka?
  • headlights (again!) 20 Jan 2002 (Forum)
After all your help last week I have upgraded bulbs from standad to the Philips ones which give a "whiter" light and I can now see the road. I also had my dealer align the lights properly (free of charge). BUT the right light shines to the left and the left light shines to the right. Being totally ignorant about these things, is this normal or should they only cross at a considerable distance?

  • Honda Civic - Squeaky Clutch 28 Aug 2011 (Forum)
Not a new problem, according to masses of chatter on websites, but has anyone managed to get Honda to accept the full cost of fitting a new clutch master cylinder to cure this problem? Honda have greased the pedal , re-aligned the cylinder etc, but nothing hasn't worked. My grouse is that Honda have knowingly continued to fit a defective part which makes them liable under the Sale of Goods Act for 6 years from date of manufacture.
  • FIAT Bravo and Brava - Removing Track Rod Ends From 1997 Fiat Bravo 18 Feb 2011 (Forum)
I just want to know if this is possible without the aid of using heat. In the past heat had to be used when adjusting my wheel alignment in some previous cars. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.
  • Check your headlight beam if travelling to France. 28 May 2008 (Forum)
    On two different motorway service areas we noticed that the French Police were pulling UK reg cars over and putting one of those headlight alignment machines onto the lights. Be warned ... {Amendment to subject line}
  • Wipers 26 Feb 2008 (Forum)
During rain I park the wipers vertically to minimise the damage this causes. But I wish the manufacturers would align the wiper arms along the A posts to illiminate this annoyance.
  • Jaguar X-Type (2001 - 2009) - Twitchy steering 13 Jan 2008 (Forum)
All was well then. Haven't hit any major bumps or pot holes. Just trying to work out if it is suspension wear or alignment issues before the Jag warranty runs out!
  • BMW 320d poor handling 16 Dec 2004 (Forum)
Recently, since changing both rear tyres (fronts are dunlops, rears are Goodyear), I've noticed the back-end is very floaty and will break-away at the slightest thing. The BMW garage can't find anything wrong, but they've suggested getting the wheel alignment done. Does anyone here have any idea what might be wrong? Thanks in advance....
  • VW New Beetle knocking rear noise 16 Mar 2004 (Forum)
1.6 New Beetle, there is an odd knocking noise from the rear, noticeable during acceleration (engine past about 2,000 rpm), or during braking, or over rough surfaces ? Had a mechanic check the exhust, which was OK - I\'m wondering if the exhaust is out of alignment and knocking on the suspension. Kind of sounds like mice with small hammers ! The noise goes once you\'re cruising ....
  • Passat Back Brakes 14 Apr 2003 (Forum)
hi all a quick one which i am sure has been asked before. My M reg CLTDI Passat just failed its MOT due to badly aligned and heavily worn back brakes. What would it be resonable to pay for this job in 1) VW main dealer 2) local trusted garage? Could i chance it and go to some quick fit place, or would this be very foolish?
  • Steering pointing to 11:30 when driving straight 28 May 2019 (Forum)
So I have to have the steering wheel point ever so slightly to the left for the car to go straight. I should also state that when I align my steering wheel to point to 11:30 (so the car goes straight) and let go over the steering wheel, the car does go straight. It does start to pull a little to the left after about 20-30 meters but the pull is only slight and minor.
  • Vauxhall Vectra B facelift (1999 - 2002) - 01 2.2 Crash damage not pointed out when bought 11 Apr 2008 (Forum)
He did however tell me that the front bumper had been blown in because of a few scuff marks. Anyway I've since had to: 1. put 4 new tyres on the car (Jan 11th) 2. get the wheels aligned (Mar 8th) at which point the guy doing the wheel alignment asked if the car had been hit because the wheel alignment was so far out- I said I'd been told no. 3. Put another 2 tyres on the front as the ones from Jan were now un-roadworthy.

  • Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 03 1.8 Tracking? 5 Sep 2009 (Forum)
They completed this without a hitch but when i was driving it around after it was still pulling to the left. I went back and they stated that the wheel alignment was not the problem then, and it must be something else. I was wondering if anyone else can provide an explanation for the pulling to one side? ive also checked the tyre pressure and its all good
  • Why do some people flash cars with xenons? 22 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Without xenons the dipped beams were really poor and it was really difficult to see the road, with xenons it was much, much better but a couple of drivers flashed. The headlights were correctly aligned in case you thought otherwise.
  • Dim-dip - where's it gone? 16 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Any other Audi drivers find that their headlights are poor on dipped beam? If so have you upgraded or just simply re-aligned?
  • Mondeo diesel, cambelt changing 7 Apr 2005 (Forum)
I have changed them on several other cars but do not know if I need any special tools or pins. Is the tensioner an eccentric? If so how do you relax it & retension it? Is there alignment holes in the pump gear to stop it turning? Any help you can give would be most welcome. Thank you, Vinnie
