Best car I've ever owned

I bought this car effectively new from dealers - it had been used as a demonstration model and had a couple of thousand miles on the clock. Previously I'd run old-style Minis, so this was a step up. It has now done 100 000 miles in 8 years. There have been no real problems - a couple of people have run into me (one front, one rear) but that isn't the car's fault! It is a comfortable car, smooth to drive. Soon after I got it I had to drive back from the south of France when unwell, doing 600 miles in 2 days, and this car made what could have been an unpleasant experience quite acceptable. I tend to cruise at 60 on motorways but it has quite enough power to drive at (and beyond) the legal limit. I've never monitored all round fuel consumption, but have checked it over 2000 miles touring in France, and reckon on 66-67 mpg (autoroutes ~60 mph, cruising on trunk roads at 50-55). I'm glad I got a 5-door, as I've moved house during this time, and the back doors make it very easy to load up. The boot's a decent size too. I've found VW dealers on the expensive side (you pay for the glossy showrooms) and had a bad repair experience with one garage, but that isn't the car's fault either.
