Vauxhall Astra (2015 - 2022)
1.4T 150ps Elite 5dr Hatchback
Good but a bit ordinary
I have this car on a short lease and can recommend it as a reliable vehicle to get you from A to B in comfort. The elite version has some nice features such as heated leather seats front and rear and heated steering wheel. The infotainment system is good but I find myself taking my eyes off the road more often than I should. I like the design but as other reviewers have said rear park sensors should be standard. I miss the sunglasses holder that my previous car had and curiously the electric window switches on the drivers side are a bit too far back. I like the electric handbrake but find that the boot has quite a high sill for lifting luggage over. The engine is a bit raucous at high revs but is smooth and quiet cruising on the motorway. There is plenty of go in the lower gears for overtaking. I am getting 42.6 mpg used mainly on long journeys with A roads, dual carriageway and motorway. Only one fault that has been corrected by the local dealer - a strange creaking/ groaning noise coming from underneath the car at slow speeds. Apparently the suspension mounts needed a re- grease! The problem is now cured however.
