The best Astra Vauxhall have ever made!

I bought my Astra K brand new in June 2016 from Halesowen Motor House, my local Vauxhall dealer. As a family we have had 18 Vauxhall cars since 1983 so we are loyal owners! This Astra is the best one they have ever made in my opinion. It is a joy to drive with good ride and handling, and a good level of equipment including heated seats and steering wheel (originally was sceptical but now like it in the winter instead of having to wear gloves). I have the base level engine, a 4 cylinder 1.4 ecotec with 100hp. This engine is fine for most driving I do around town and on motorway, but I will be honest it has to be worked on hills and can get noisy at higher revs. Economy also ranges between 38 around town and 42 on a run, which compared to my old Focus ecoboost is quite poor.
I have paid for the onstar services to continue and on my car, I had a 12 month trial and of wifi which was great with my son aboard with his tablet on long runs (I believe it is 3 months now). The dashboard layout is logical and I do think the heater buttons are a bit fiddly but you soon learn them. The dials are clear to read and there is a clear cluster which is easy to navigate with all functions you would expect including a tyre pressure monitor. The touch screen radio display is logical and simple to use, and it is easy to pair and stream from your phone. As I have an iphone, apple car play makes connection seamless. The boot is a good size for a family of 4 and I have packed in enough for a week to Scotland with no issue. The floor is low and easy to load, but on versions with a spare wheel (mine has gas kit) the capacity is lower.
I have had no issues with the Astra at all aside from routine servicing and one software update. Some paint work had to be corrected on delivery as the garage damaged it removing protection from the door edges.

It has been a joy to drive and I would happily have another and maybe next time consider a SRI or a 1.0 or 1.4 Turbo petrol engine so that I could have better economy. It is a comfortable family car and please consider as an alternative you may be surprised.
