The Prius over the first 4000 miles of mixed motoring has averaged 66.03 m.p.g. This is my third Toyota and the best yet, although the others were utterly reliable. It is quite remarkable how some people do not like the Prius, without even sitting in it, and refer to it as a "milk float." Those who have travelled in the car have remarked on the comfort and the quiteness, and are surprised that it has the abilty to accelerate smartly when required. I find that its purchase has to be almost justified to some anti- Prius, individuals, who just do not believe the m.p.g. its achieved.
It did take a little while to get used to it, especially when running on electric mode and someone stepped off the kerb, and gave me a look as if it was my fault.
