Unbeatable value for money

Stepped down a class from an Audi A3 which was nearing the end of its contract, but made a saving of over a £100 a month, with nil deposit, and a substantial dealer contribution from Skoda.
The Fabia is obviously not an Audi, but then you're not paying Audi prices, nor a substantial deposit contribution.
Chose the Colour Edition, and added a few options to bring it up to the spec we like. The Fabia has a well supported, high up driving position, with lots of adjustment for seat and steering wheel. It drives well, and on premium petrol, can be driven around town easily a gear higher than you might expect.
Plenty of headroom and ample boot space, and after a 3-door A3, having rear doors is a joy.
Tyre pressure for ride comfort is critical on the 15 inch 215/45 wheels / tyres. At 2.1 bar it rides OK over uneven surfaces with driver or driver plus one on board; increase it to 2.4 (recommended 'eco' setting) and it will shake you about.
(Update 2017 - changing to Goodyear All Season tyres a great improvement to ride quality)

Braking requires positive pressure and is a little unresponsive, then a mite grabby until you accommodate to it. Don't like the Front Assist at all, which can operate in a random manner running in traffic, and the tyre pressure monitor didn't seem to indicate a total front flat after only 800 approx miles, allowing me to drive for some distance unaware on lumpy country roads.
But other than these few niggles, a great car, enjoyable to drive, well finished, and ideal for a family.

(2020 update - it turned out on investigation that the tyre pressure monitor on board had not in fact been set up on delivery. We thoroughly enjoyed our Fabia over 3 years ownership with absolutely no reliability or maintenance concerns whatsoever, and traded in the for the new face lifted version in June - see review above)
