Extremely Disappointed with Nissan Juke UK
Hi all,
Looking for advice and opinions regarding a major issue with my 2018 Nissan Juke automatic (registration ND18BJX).
The car has covered only around 34,000 miles, yet it has now suffered complete gearbox failure. An authorised Nissan dealer diagnosed the issue and quoted £7,207.92 for replacement.
I contacted Nissan UK requesting goodwill support because I believe a gearbox should last significantly longer than 34k miles. However, Nissan rejected the request, stating the repair is considered “wear and tear” because the vehicle is outside warranty and over 7 years old.
What I find frustrating is that the extremely low mileage seems to have been largely ignored. Surely a gearbox failing at 34,000 miles cannot reasonably be considered normal wear and tear?
The Nissan diagnostic report also included the wording:
“Requires new gearbox, suspect it’s been stripped before.”
However, this was never confirmed or evidenced in any way.
The selling dealer unfortunately no longer exists, so I cannot pursue them. Nissan has now confirmed their internal complaints process is exhausted and I have escalated the matter to The Motor Ombudsman.
Has anyone experienced similar premature gearbox failure on a Nissan Juke automatic/CVT at low mileage?
Also interested to know:
• whether £7,207 sounds excessive
• whether rebuild/reconditioned gearbox route is realistic
• if others have had success obtaining goodwill from Nissan in similar situations
Thanks in advance.
