elegant, solid feel but hidden rust problem - engineering fail.

my second merc after a c220 cdi estate
the engine is not that much better than c220
rear seats don't drop so impractical as hell
plush interior
Common issues I got hit with:
- Entertainment navigation wheel stopped working, plastic stalk inside broke(plastic!!!!). Merc quote £1000, merc specialist quote £500, I bought aluminium stalk on amazon £24 and 2 hrs of work - changed it myself.
- Sub frame RUST failed MOT, know issue where it rusts from the inside out, so you won't know about it till 6-8 years old. apparently not galvanised on the inside. Merc specialist quoted £1800. i was enraged at rust on this brand of car, 30 years warranty on rust. Took to dealership and replaced free of charge. They mucked up by not doing wheel alignment so needed a 2nd visit to dealership (who said dealerships are better- they are not! just much more expensive)
- plastic water pump components that broke -----really PLASTIC!!!!!
- front parking sensor trigger off randomly when wet!!!!!!!
