super smooth cruiser with iron fist in velvet glove

Our fourth consecutive E class Estate In 30 years. We did 100.000 in each, all secondhand.
Good points: Stunning power, 265 bhp; Smoothness swiftness and evident safety. Massive Load carrying ability.City to city door-to-door 42 mpg. Very little Noise Vibration or harshness. We love travelling in it. It is our Spaceship.

Minor niggles; We're hoping it won't go spectacularly rusty like our last one, 2001 e320 cdi did. Holes everywhere, Some in weird places. Meanwhile our Volkswagen, same age, remained spotless.

Perhaps the interior Isn't quite as heavy duty as the previous ones, The tailgunner's seats In the luggage compartment look rather lightweight.
It is possible if you are a stupid person to mistake the Screen wash button for the transmission park button on the opposite stalk. Yes, it can be done.
After six years the nice Comand Dashboard display does seem a little dated compared with, say , my iPhone. On;y holds half my phone numbers eg doesnt do Voice Rec as wel as Siri does

Big niggle: The fancy AMG sports Wheels and tires are a pain in the arts for city parking.
The previous owner had curbed all four wheels badly on the school run. I have not had them repaired, at 85 to £100 each. as I too find it hard not to touch them, in our congested city parking. This didn't happen with the previous cars as their fatter tyres could take a gentle brush with the curb.
I would suggest avoiding cars with these silly AMG sports wheels. I'm considering swapping them for some less vulnerable ones
after all, not living near the Nurburgring, i dont need to go over 130 mph! (max speed 155, god help us)
