First of don't buy the Nav, its a TomTom but with a £700 price tag, ridiculous price for a very average nav, small screen and low resolution graphics.

I bought the most powerful version for towing duties, it's far in front of both xtrails I've had when it comes to performance and stability, its also a car that you want to drive. Twin turbo with 310 pound feet of pulling power.
The engine is a gem, apparently one of the best in the world according to Whatcar.

At 4K miles I have had no rattles, mirror shake or bonnet shake experienced by owners who bought the car soon after launch, nor oil rise.

I have had a problem the Istop it had to be reinitialized according to the garage, the smart charging wasn't charging the battery correctly, result flat battery and car failed to start. Now sorted.

And my approved phone a Samsung Galaxy Y would randomly fail to connect, very annoying, in the end my daughter gave me her HTC wildfire which works fine.

Finally the TomTom LIVE services failed to work for a couple of months until TT released a software update.

I do believe I ordered the cx-5 too early in its life, there is a revised version due out around now.
With better dealer discounts.
My last two xtrails were bought two years into the model life, with very few problems.

Other than these three issues I've had no other problems.

Economy wise anyone who actually thought they would get the official fuel figures is a little thick to put it politely.

Locally in summer I was seeing 44mpg on the cars average read out, which is accurate to around 1mpg, it reads high as normal.
At the moment with temperatures around 6-8 C, I'm seeing around 42mpg.

On the motorway at high speed it drops to around 38-40mpg, which is odd really.
While on A and B roads I've seen 49mpg a couple of times.
When the car is run in, usually around mileages over 10K for a diesel, I expect a little more.

The versatility is as expected for a SUV, and carries my fishing and caravan gear without any problem.

Car is running better than ever since the initial issues, economy dropped to 41 mpg locally after the first service, no idea why but recently its back to 43mpg plus, also had 55mpg on a run more than once, so overall the car is proving to be a good buy.

There is a updated version due out soon with lots of improvements, but as yet not shown on the website.
