Overall reliability

I really like mine but beware its quite wide

Bought new from dealer July 2013; on the way home the tyre pressure warning was set off when I went over some rough road - then discovered when I got home I was missing a handbook ; Rang dealer who was not very helpful ( took me 4 weeks to get a handbook off the dealer)- as was trying to understand if I had a problem or not - next morning tyres all looked fine - went to sainsburys - free air there and all tyres showed as fine - I had worked out by now how to reset the warning and all was ok ;I did think I had a dash squeak - but it was not the dash it was the sunvisor - minor adjustment and hey presto no squeak - all is quiet;
4 months later - the car is great - no issues at all - mixed driving 17 miles each way to work mixed roads - max 50mph - with longer journeys at weekend and higher speeds- but mpg now showing as 44.8 - it is interesting to watch - its very thirsty if you hit the accelerator - if you are very very gentle then mpg shoots up; it pays to watch the road in advance and be gentle - ; it does not have the pull of a diesel ( I did test drive one ) but in reality I don't need that pull : it does 0-60 in less c 10seconds - thats ok if you drop the gears it will go but there really is very little need;
Now the problem - it is quite wide as discovered whilst driving to work ; box van coming the other way decided it needed my side of the road - I had nowhere to go - parked cars my side - bang and the drivers mirror was gone! I ring parts at dealer - whole pack required - problem glass out of stock across Europe - 2 weeks later I get a call parts now in - I take it to dealer Perrys Preston and 2 hours later ( after being told it should take 1 hour max) I am told they forgot to order the lens for the indicator in the mirror unit - and guess what- this is out of stock around the world - could take a while to come from Japan - have you tried driving on todays motorways without drivers mirror? so I have bagged up the mirror unit to prevent water damage and await all the parts ;;;;oh and it will cost north of £300 for a replacement mirror ;; but now the good news - which I had supplied today ; mazda now have a spare wheel package for the cx5 - steel wheel , temp 17" tyre , fitting units etc to hold neatly in the boot and hold the jack and brace etc - total c£300 so I can rest easy and forget the tin of gunk ( yes it should be supplied at new but there you go);
Its roomy , comfortable, the sat nav works - and has from day one - its in soul red which is a great colour - and I see very few on the road ; I think the thing is, mazda on the whole make very good cars - the dealers are only really interested in selling you one and thats it - if you have a problem - you have to solve it.
ps insurance is very low ( lower than previous 56 reg Mazda 3) c £200 fully comp
Overall it is a very good car - the clutch is light - the brakes are sharp and work well; the six speed gearbox is very smooth and the engine seems very refined and pulls smoothly.
