Overall reliability

Good value for money. Quiet and comfortable on long journeys.

Should have gone for the 1.6 diesel motor although the 1.4 performs well when above 2,000 rpm. Went from UK to Spain averaging around 60 mph overall driving time and 55 mpg. Cruises all day at a comfortable 70mph. It was my original report about the uneven running on the overrun when the cruise control was in use. It still does that, I have been back to the main dealer and he told me it´s normal. Told me that if the set cruising speed is exceeded by much it applies the rear brakes lightly to keep to the set speed !. Now I have studied the handbook it does say, in italics, that this is a normal feature of this vehicle. I either slip it out of cruise control or apply a very
light pressure onto the accelerator and it runs smoothly again. This is only on very long and fairly steep downward inclines. My previous car, a Renault Clio did not do this but it´s speed would just steadily increase and I would have to manually brake to bring it down again, so an acceptable but not liked feature. The rest of the vehicle is very good, comfortable seats etc., no rattles. In the first 9000 miles, (car was a pre.- reg. but as new) there has been absolutely no problem at all, everything works, steering is good, excellent gear change. Brakes are superb and so on. Nice car overall. Fuel consumption not even near to Hyundais claimed figures, especially on shorter trips.
By the way I live in Spain so it does not suffer cold starts but the air-con is almost always on. hence the model designation, the TECHNO version, I believe not available in the UK but very similar in most respects.
