Good but quirky

First diesel I have owned so has taken a while for me to get used to it and it seems to have needed a while to loosen up. You either love or loath the appearance. Very comfortable for long journeys and the power/torque makes for a relaxing motorway drive. Loads of useful room.

Switchgear is a nightmare; I almost have to stop to alter the external lights. Computer is not intuitive and some options can only be selected whilst stationary on my model (no apparent logic in this). Whilst on bad points I was annoyed that I could not order my model (i.e. Civic ES) with the "IntelligentCruise Control). I did not want the extra cosmetic gadgets or the large blingy wheels.

Sometimes criticised for average roadholding. You would have to drive dangerously for this to be apparent on public roads. Ride is firmish but acceptable. Fuel consumption on a long run is superb (> 60 miles per gallon). Car is quiet at motorway speeds and eats up the miles. Insurance is surprisingly cheap (£240) for a 150bhp car.

It's a Honda with the accompanying benefits i.e. reliability, excellent dealers and hopefully reasonable resale value. I have experienced these with previous Hondas and expect the same with the present Civic.
