A bargain used car

I bought my Mondeo as it was the best family car I could find within my budget of £4000. A one owner, full Ford service history example with 80,500 miles on the clock.

Despite being a very large car the Mondeo is great to drive: effortless as a motorway cruiser, fun on A roads and handles B roads too (though watch out for oncoming traffic on smaller roads - the size is enormous!). It drives better than my previous Passat.

It is well specced inside, the stereo is good, all electric windows, dual zone air con, leather multi-function steering wheel, well laid out spacious cabin and a boot so large I didn't need an estate anymore and switched to this hatchback!

The engine won't excite boy racers but they wouldn't buy this car anyway. It suits my needs well as during the week I do lots of short journeys with and without children so a diesel (which would have been much more expensive) wasn't appropriate.

I've experienced just a couple of minor issues: I had to buy some retro fit parts (for £14.50 each plus pnp) from Ford to stop water getting into the boot when opening it after/during rainy weather.

The previous owner had also needed to replace the steering rack and power steering pump - a common fault it seems on talkford.

That said, I remain delighted with such a good car for the price - the equivalent VW's available at that price point didn't even come close!
