Poor components let down great car

Had this car since almost new, have had mondeos for over 10 years. Sadly mine has been off the road for 10 days for lack of Ford investing a little more in critical components under the bonnet. I've never had such trouble before but unless you garage your car daily I suspect that you may suffer similar issues as soon as the car is out of warranty. My car said it was an immobiliser problem, so 10 hour relay, several AA call outs and 3 days at Ford for them to identify the problem being a corroded wire in the loom - causing the module to not recognise the immobiliser and I'm now looking at a £500 bill. This follows on from the bonnet cable failing due to corrosion, really I don't know who specified the part but mixing steel & alloy is a great way of causing corrosion. So would I buy another - hmmh being car less for 10 days really makes me think twice. Before you buy a new Ford might be worth a call to their customer services just to see how helpful they are.
