Why is the same insurance company quoting different renewal prices on different comparison sites?

I've just been on two comparison websites to look for cheaper car insurance than my latest renewal quote. A company quotes £186 on one site and £165 on another for the same level of cover. Why is there such a difference?

It could be the profit margin the website operates with, they will receive a commission for selling. £20 difference is virtually nothing. You can easily find the same and see differences of many hundreds of pounds. It always pays to do as you have done, but I would also read all the contract because there may be a difference you have not spotted.
