Where can I get insurance for a category 'C' vehicle?

Do I legally have to inform an insurance company that my vehicle was previously regarded as a category 'C' damaged repairable? The vehicle has had a VIC after repair and has been on the road for the past year. Would this be recorded in an insurer's database and therefore should my insurance premium increase rather than decrease? What insurance companies deal with these classes of vehicle?

I am having a few problems with quotes once I mention the category 'C' history and, as a student, I do not want to pay over the odds for insurance on a vehicle which is only worth about £500.

Yes, you have to disclose everything of any relevance (the insurer can find out, but you still have to disclose). It's probably better to use a broker such as www.primoplc.com rather than a less flexible direct insurer.

My car is a Cat S write off. How do I get it off the register? All repairs have been done but my insurance quotes are ridiculous so I need it off the register.
