Should I fit 16-inch wheels to my Skoda Yeti?

I am buying a new Skoda Yeti 1.2 TSI SE. However, they only come with 17-inch wheels, would it be OK to fit 16s? I know they would give a softer ride.

I wouldn't worry too much because the 17-inch wheels have 205/50 R17 tyres. Not quite as absorbent as 205/55 R16s or 215/60 R16s fitted to 16s. But obviously the 215/60 R16s put the most rubber between the rims and the road. Other countries even have a 15-inch option with 195/65 R15 tyres.
