Is extended warranty a good idea?

We have been offered an extra 24 month warranty on a 2011 Volkswagen Polo for £700. However, the car is supplied with a 12 month warranty. Is £700 for an extra 12 month warranty good value for money?

Obviously you do not pay £700 for a warranty when you don't know what you are getting. Tell them you want a detailed description of what will and what will not be covered for this £700 of your money or you will consider taking the matter to the Financial Conduct Authority.
