What should I expect as settlement for my written-off Volkswagen Polo?

My car was recently hit from behind and I have a feeling it will be written off. Car is a Volkswagen Polo 1998 R-reg, in very good condition before the accident. Anyone know what a good settlement price would be, and should I take out the stereo and speakers I have added before they take it to assess it?

Somewhere between £500-700, depending on model. The speakers should be left in it - they are part of the car.
