Insuring a young driver - cost?

I currently own a 2004 Ford Focus 1.6. Although the car is in my name, the insurance is in my husband's and I am registered as the main driver.

Therefore I have no NCB. My 17 year old son is hopefully going to pass his driving test this week. I have started to look for insurance quotes with the insurance in my name, husband and son as named drivers. I was horrified to find that the cheapest quote so far is £3500. I have e-mailed Adrian Flux, and I'm waiting for a price from them. I've also looked at a couple of the companies who use the 'black boxes'. Have you any other suggestions?
