I want my car written off rather than repaired over a long period

My car was in an accident not my fault. The insurers have agreed liability. My car is worth £2000. However they want to repair my car price being £1500 plus they have given me a rental car. I have had this for two weeks and they still have not picked up my damaged car.

I called and asked them to give me a cheque for £2000 and let that be the end of it. Thought it would be easier for both parties. They are insisting on getting it repaired. How can I force a write off and get the cheque?

You are getting screwed by an 'accident management company' that has put you into a 'credit hire car' that you will have to pay for if the insurers don't. Get directly onto your insurers and sort this out asap. It would be in the insurers interests to simply pay you off. It is not in their interests to clock up a massive bill for a rental car, which may come back to you.
