My dealer refused to provide a hard copy of the owner's manual - is this fair?

I have a new car on order and I asked for a hard copy of the manual. As I'm a mature driver, I prefer this format rather than trying to read it on the screen in the car or on a phone. Volvo response was no due to "environmental issues." They are happy to send me a PDF so I can print it myself but Volvo UK won't help. I think this is unreasonable. Your thoughts ?

Car manufacturers are under pressure to reduce their environmental footprint, even if the production of a new vehicle has a significant cost in terms of resources. Volvo would likely argue that doing away with printed owners manuals saves a significant amount of paper, water and other resources when multiplied across the millions of cars that are produced globally. However, we also prefer a traditional handbook and think new cars should still be come with one if the owner requests it. Sadly Volvo don't agree...
