  She lives in Farnham, has a small garage and only uses the car around town with an occassional run up to Oxford. Max mileage 4000 per year. She has never had a new car and the family would like to get her something reliable and with PAS. Any ideas? Thanks

  Just got a V reg Passat 1.9 TDI and the heating system is poor in that, if you push the temp beyond the the 22 deg auto setting it gets warmer but not hot even on the max setting. The engine is up to temp (90 deg) the heater feed is hot and the return is slightly cooler. A pal bought one at the same time and as with my Audi 80 you could roast beef in the cab when on the hot setting.

• Mondeo II headlamp level motors 23 Jul 2004 (Forum)
  Has anyone come across both the headlamp levelling motors whirring away continuously, they shut off on the max adjustment but don't stop when put back to level. Tried the obvious connectors on the back of lights but nothing happens. A good thump near the lights stops it temporarily so I guess there is a loose connection somewhere.

  Lorries overtaking at their governed max (60 mph?) on dual carriageways and 2-lane motorways frustrate me!. Their speed differential is often only a fraction of an mph and it can take miles (literally) for the overtake to be completed, holding everyone else up in the meantime.

  A friend has just had his 2001 VW Golf 1.6 serviced by the VW main dealer and it shows the oil level about 8mm over the max level. He contacted the garage who just shrugged and said don't worry. • Heater problems 22 Feb 2002 (Forum)
  Apparantly, the heater resistor is a common reason for a car heater to only work on max level. I am about to change the resistor in my VW and found this helpful little guide (for Fiat cars). Take it at face vaule because these instructions do not apply to all vehicles and are very general, but if you have the above symtoms then you may have a failed heater resistor!
