Has anyone come across both the headlamp levelling motors whirring away continuously, they shut off on the max adjustment but don't stop when put back to level.
Tried the obvious connectors on the back of lights but nothing happens. A good thump near the lights stops it temporarily so I guess there is a loose connection somewhere.
Before I pull it all apart too have a look, I would appreciate if anyone has any experience first

Hi
My Focus does the exact same thing, and makes the use of the levelling totally useless. I am guessing that there must be some form of tellback to tell the motors they have moved the reflector enough. Maybe this has a problem, maybe corrosion or the like? If anyone has a fix, i would like to know. I am prepared to 'fiddle' and take the levellers to bits if necessary to repair rather than cough up a fortune to replace them.

The driver's side headlamp motor on my MKII Mondeo does this if the setting is at it's highest (set for a normal load) I've found it only need moving one position up to the little . below number 1 and it stops.

Hi, My galaxy has this problem, you will have to replace the motor, my galaxy's was done under warranty, it was something to do with the motor relay.
Hope this has helped

Thanks to all for comments, I will try moving the adjuster one notch, if thats all it takes then it will do, otherwise It's take a poke at the motors for a dodgy connector at the weekend. I will post the outcome either way in case it helps anyone else - The Ford answer of replacing sounds expensive for a tight old git like me
Thanks again for replies

That was an easy job, took the headlamps out cleaned up all the connectors - made no difference at all though. Loosend off the motors, did not remove as this looked tricky, gave a squirt of 3in1 around the motor shaft & stuck back together.
Now all is perfect & Ford didn't get a penny from me.
Hope this of use to others
