  Both rear brakes are slightly binding - an easy fix, but if abs prob is expensive the car may not be worth fixing.   Many thanks Max.

• Volkswagen Golf MKV TDI - Heater problem 10 May 2012 (Forum)
  Heater works fine initially ( temp turned fully up, air con light off ), then when I turn it down slightly it goes cold and when I turn the dial back up to the max it remains cold. The fan works ok on all speeds.  Has anyone experienced this problem & is it expensive to fix? Thanks in advance.

  Hi All, I'm having a problem with my van Nissan Primstar 06'. When i am driving at speeds of between 80 - 100 kph the temperture gauge shoots up to the max. The red warning light comes on, and the altenator/engine sign. Do you think this will be expensive to fix? Should i get ready for a large bill? Regards Froggy 38

  [endif]--> Hi Everyone, i have 2.2 diesel 03 Reg, for about a few weeks a warning has come on the screen,the car on and off goes into limp mode, sometimes its fine sometimes max is 2 revs,  went for a diagnostic said it was the fuel pump. Heard it may be something else related to the pump, any help will be appreciated Thanks

  Went out for short trip this evening, stopped car and left lights on max 5 mins, went to start car and it would not start so called out breakdown services. Tried car 30 mins latter and it restarted, would could of caused this? Car is used for short journeys as second car covering around 1600 miles per annum, maybe this could be a factor.

  I have recently noticed that the coolant in my expansion tank keeps filling up, even after I have extracted sufficient coolant to obtain the level between the min. and max. marks. Can any one offer any advice on what the problem might be please?

    My Omega is developing problems faster than I can fix them so it looks like time for a replacement. Budget is limited (£3,000 max) and I really need an auto. Over the weekend I saw a 2000 Golf 1.6 auto (84k) but the asking price seemed a bit steep at £3,495. Or am I just out of touch.  Any suggestions appreciated as lng as it is NOT a Vauxhall!

  I've got a 1.9TDi 110 bhp Octavia (2000 model) and am thinking of buying a newer one. Does anyone know where I can find out the performace figures for that model (max speed, acceleration and fuel consumption) so that I can compare it with current models? Many thanks

  Usually, in most petrol engines, each 1L of displacement produces max 100 Nm (usually less) of torque. But in Mercedes Kompressor engines, they exceed this value eg. C200 (1.8L engine) produces 250 Nm of torque (from 2500-5000 range) How do they do it? Is there any other similar engine?

  I see the M3 V8 engine details have been released with a max bhp of 420. I am suprised it only equals the RS4 - they usually like to play games with nudging each other up the bhp scale. Have we seen an end to this between the German big 3 I wonder. I bet it features in the Internationla Engine of the Year awards as most BMW engines tend to.

  Hello, a few weeks ago a horrible grinding noise was heard from behind my dash, since then the speed control switch only works on full. I have repalced the heater blower fan unit (behind the glovebox) but it still only works on max speed. Any ideas what else it could be, the switch etc, or is there something else (Relay?). How do I change it/the switch? Thanks

  Does any tyre techie out there know why ZR rated tyres sometimes dont have a load rating on the tyre itself or on the literature on websites, whereas others have it. How do you know if they are suitable? Mine (dunlops) have the words "max load 630kg" on them but this is only for the American market i'm told. They have no service markings such as 93Y for example which other ZRs do.

  Can anyone in BackroomLand help: I'm looking at a 93 V8i 3.5 litre LR Discovery for a friend and wish to check the ignition timing. I only have access to the data for 95MY 3.9 litre which says: timing at 800rpm max (vac disconnected) 5 BTDC +/-1 Can anyone tell me if the 3.5 is the same or if not what should it be?   Looking in the manual I find unladen weight, gross vehicle weight, gross train weight, and gross trailer weight I assume train weight is the max combined fully loaded car and caravan weight, but am not sure which relates to kerbweight. How does the gross trailer weight fit into this? Can you help? Thanks Andy

  This to include depreciating the purchase price over 12 months and one tank of petrol a month. (obviously talking old banger for occasional 2nd car use here) Two 30-something drivers, both max no claims, car garaged overnight, good area, no DIY servicing.... My other car is a BMW etc (and sorry, fellow Backroomers, to have been away so long)
