  After running an old Ford for two decades have finally agreed with the family to purchase a much newer vehicle. Going from a late 90's Ford to a fairly modern car will be a welcome change. Currently looking at approved used Lexus GS\IS models that are within the current budget which is ideally no more than £26k.

  Started from cold yesterday and idled until warm, it let out a bit of steam and perhaps later a small haze of blue oil smoke, nothing much. The exhaust smelt very faint and very clean. The garage was talking piston rings and a s/h engine. But could there be a problem with valve stem oil seals? and would a bit - it only is a bit - of oil smoke make a car fail disastrously on emissions? There is no guarantee that the car hasn't been abused, run dry of oil or something, in the past, but it runs very well.

  Can anyone shed any light? I can?t believe that the parts for a Mazda 323 are that much more expensive that a Ford Focus on which it?s based. I intend to investigate labour rates before I choose my next car and would be most interested to hear which make of car is typically cheapest to service through a main dealer.

  I consider these a classic, even an investment at the price it is going for (comparing to prices hot Mk1 and 2's fetch). My only problem (at 22 years old) would be insuring it, as it is group 14 - would any insurance comnpanies consider it a classic yet on a limited mileage policy?

  From personal experience the Fiesta is one of the better small cars for motorway driving and has good passive safety features.   hi newbie to this site...ive got a ford focus c-max,from motability got it from deleted . picked it up on the 15th- 12- 04 broke down on the way home.got rac to take it back to garage .next day was told by garage it was fixed and that it was an computer fault. on the way home it broke down again.dashboard lit up like a xmas tree. so we called garage to send a car out to us and to collect ours. its been in the garage since. its had a instrument cluster changed a new wiring loom and a new multi plug fitted. guess what ?
