  • Ford Mondeo - Mondeo/Vectra 2005 - petrol or diesel? 24 Jan 2014 (Forum)
The old faithful s-reg Mondeo petrol estate is still running like a swiss watch, but the rust and tyre situation probably means that funds to nurse it through the Mot would be better spent elsewhere. we are usually short runs (10 miles return) with occasional big trips, but like the comfort of  a car Mondeo/Vectra sized - hatchback slightly preferable for the supermarket car park. :-) .
  • Ford Mondeo 2002 Zetec TDDI - Drive Shaft or Gear Problem 21 Jul 2013 (Forum)
The noise is still there but it is not as loud as it was this morning.  I went to the mechanics and they suggest it O/S Drive Shaft problem and CV boot and they have quote me 200 pounds to get the work done. I think it can be the gear because its only making noise when i am changing the gear. Car doesnt make any other noise on the corners or regular driving.
  • Ford Focus v Volvo S40 - which to choose? 3 Aug 2012 (Forum)
Having agonised over a new (2nd hand new that is) car for a few months I have to make a choice this week betrween a 59 plate Focus 1.8 TDci and a 58 plate Volvo S40 2.0D S. I like the way they both drive, the Focus probably having the edge in terms of excitement (let's face it you'd never call a Volvo exciting would you?) but the S40 feels like a solid motor that you could run forever.
  • Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 02 2.0 Sludge in inlet manifold - diesel? 29 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Whilst driving at the weekend a slight wooshing noise whilst under boost indicated an air leak upstream of the turbo, I found a slight split in the "S" shaped rubber hose that leads from the intercooler to the EGR outlet tube that itself leads up to the inlet manifold. I fitted a new hose today, quite straightforward, and at the same time replaced the water/PAS pump aux belt while in that area of the engine.

  • Ford Mondeo II (1996 - 2000) - Broken catch on fuel filler flap - expensive ? 15 Sep 2007 (Forum)
Does anyone know how much it'd probably be to get it sorted out? Many thanks in advance. Cheers! s
  • 1996 Endura 1.3 Ka Cutting out! 22 May 2003 (Forum)
Hi guys..........I don\'t know if you\'re fed up with hearing about Ford\'s that cut out but I have a similar problem. My 1996 Ford Ka cuts out when dropping from high revs (75-80 mph in 5th) to idle.........this only seems to happen when the car is warm. I\'ve tested this when the car is at a standstill by opening the throttle up to high revs and then shutting it quickly - this causes the car to splutter and die!
  • Suzuki Vitara 2015 - General judgement 19 Sep 2015 (Forum)

  • Seven seater for family of five? 18 Aug 2012 (Ask HJ)

  • Red Bull Racing - Another disappointment for Honda 3 Feb 2023 (Forum)
Really disappointing news that so soon after announcing that Honda would continue to be RBR s engine partner for next year, they confirm that they are moving to Ford from 2026. Honda have proved to be a reliable and consistent  partner over  the last few seasons , providing the performance and reliability for RBR to dominate MB and Ferrari .
  • Carcraft 16 May 2007 (Forum)
I have £6k cash to spend on a s/hand car and was thinking of having a look around Carcraft. Can any of you share your experiences with me (good or bad) as to what they are like? Also: Can you haggle with them at all-especially for cash?
  • fiesta 1.25 zetec running problems 5 Dec 2004 (Forum)
Can anyone suggest a reason for the following?? I have a 1997 Ford Fiesta 1.25LX with a zetec-s engine. Its done about 55000 miles. Occaisionally the engine seems to bog down and suffer poor acceleration for up to about 30 seconds and then suddenly surge and pick up speed even when keeping the same throttle position.
  • Vectra 4 stud steel rims 3 Oct 2002 (Forum)
Got a 97 Vectra 1.8 with 4 stud wheels. Problem is that at the moment it has Ford alloys on which look silly and are badly scuffed. Not really interested in forking for a new set of alloys and would be happy with steels and hubcaps. Question is did vauxhall make 4 stud steel wheels that will fit this car in any larger size than 14 inch as I'd really like to stick some 15's on.
  • Seat Leon FR TDI - To replace or not? A diesel dilema 28 Apr 2011 (Forum)
So, my question to the back room is, should i bring forward changing the car or not? And if so, with what, given a budget of  £15-20k max. I am happy to buy used, but prefer approx 1 yr to 18 months max. The Leon will need new front discs and pads all round in the next  2k miles. I have looked at what I might get up to a year old for £15k, and have drawn up the following list.
  • Ford Cougar (1998 - 2000) - 98 2.0 Recent Purchase, few things gone wrong 13 Feb 2010 (Forum)
The garage mechanic thought it possible if they were not fitted right (not enough grease???). Front N/S CV joint has rusted through and snapped, killing an ABS (reluctor??) ring. Rear N/S wheel bearing has gone completely. Having just checked the MOT history it was advised there was 'play' on the bearing on a MOT failure 6 days before the dealer resubmitted it and got it passed.

  • land rover to strike-70's all over again 15 Jan 2004 (Forum)
They have the attitude that because l-rover is profitable they deserve more than the 6.5% over 2 yrs. Fair enough but all profits go into the bigger ford/pag pot. Also bear in mind l-rover comes near bottom of jd power quality surveys so seems they are being paid good wages to build poor quality. We at Jaguar agreed to a 2year deal last year so we are up for our pay deal but aren't expecting much since jag lost so much last year.
