Ford C-MAX - early manual clutch burnout 10 Oct 2012 (Forum)
We have both been driving 50+ years a wide range of manuals and automatics. We were really surprised that the clutch had burned out so early and that Ford did not want to know, saying it was driver misuse Although we live in a hilly area, and where there are speed bumps we have not had a problem before. We wonder whether this is a known problem and where we go from here. -
Ford C-Max ecoboost - Ford recall on 1 litre ecoboost engines 23 May 2019 (Forum)
I have just had my car in to Lookers, Braintree after a Ford recall regarding clutch issues/ The recall said that in some circumstances the clutch plate could shatter causing serious potential for damage. The fix is crude - updating the EMS with a new module that will reduce power if high revs are detected during clutch action. -

Any - What is the max safe life for 'space-saver' tyres? 11 Feb 2014 (Forum)
The risk of a catastrophic failure when they are eventually used must be high, especially as they are not of the most robust construction and are inflated to 60psi, however I have read of no such failure(s). Maybe they are better than they look, or perhaps being stored in the dark extends their life to say 10-15 years? Seems unlikely to me. -
too much oil...consequences of driving 2 Jun 2006 (Forum)
My friend got given a vectra (W reg) by his brother; he accidentally put in too much oil (the dip stick goes up past the max by about the same amount as the distance between the max and the min). Now it takes a few turn s to start and there was a puff of black smoke.. He hasnt got any inspection ramps or anywhere to safely drain away the oil, is it safe to drive the car about 2 miles to the garage to have the oil changed, or will it cause damage..? -
