  • Dad bought a 5 ton van and got it MOTd at a regula 19 Jan 2021 (Forum)
My dad went ahead and bought a 5 ton van not knowing it was 5 ton as he put the plate into insurance and it said it was a 3.5 ton van. He got MOT done at a regular garage where they also thought it was a 3.5 ton van and did it. The van in question is a VW crafter CR50 MWB.
  • Renault Trafic Van Juddering after MOT 16 Jan 2006 (Forum)
Vehicle - Renault Trafic Van, (camper), 2002 2.1 diesel. Hi, Hope this will be a simple answer. Had my van in for an MOT a couple of months ago and it has been stood since then. Came to use it this weekend and it judders quite badly at around 55 to 60 mph.
  • Vauxhall Astra '91 - Will taped wheel arches pass MOT?! 21 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Anyway, I just saw an Astra van on Ebay. Apparently it has rusty wheel arches which all have what looks like some form of black tape over them. There is a bit of MOT remaining but the seller writes that the van passed its last MOT with this tape!

So we have been using a van for three months without an MOT, thanks to DVLA mis-advice.
  • Ford Transit Custom - Bought via auction without V5 unable to Tax & MOT 7 Jun 2021 (Forum)

  • VAN MOT "failure" 26 Sep 2004 (Forum)
Somewhat taken aback, my mate decided to have it tested at another MOT centre. Result? The cost for two new tyres and a crisp MOT certificate. Not surprisingly my mate is a bit miffed, to put it mildly. I said it was probably because its a van used for business and easy pickings were envisaged.
  • Quality of MOT test 6 Apr 2002 (Forum)
Was very impressed at thoroughness of MOT test at Ford garage that mostly services/sells Transits. Normally I get it done at normal car garage but they were so busy they passed it onto the above Van garage. I wonder if it was an interesting change for the tester or are van tests much tougher than car tests?
  • Vehicle involved in accident and SORN 3 Mar 2005 (Forum)
Hello, The small company I run has two small vans on the road, mid December a car driver reversed into one of them, not our driver's fault, the van was undrivable due to bent front suspension. Van goes to accident repair centre (ACR), a week later the MOT expires, can't MOT due to accident damage, 31st Dec tax expires, we chase the ACR and the insurance company, initially we expect the van back mid Jan, end up getting it back this week, 11 weeks after the accident!
  • Van advice 12 Jun 2006 (Forum)
Good morning. Self-employment beckons and I'll need a small van for business, needless to say I'm on a budget. My choices at the moment are between an ex post office Vauxhall combi diesel 2003, 37,000 miles, 1yr warranty & mot for £4,000 locally, or an ex British Gas Citroen Berlingo, 81,000 miles, 1 owner, 1yr mot for £2,700 further afield.

  • ANPR & MOT ? 9 Feb 2008 (Forum)
Having just smugly sailed past an ANPR van it occurred to me to check my MOT renewal date. It's lapsed by a few days. Is MOT data also used by them?
  • Ford Transit 2011 2.4 MWB H/R - Will this pass MOT? 5 Aug 2019 (Forum)
Does anyone know if this is likely to cause it to fail MOT inspection? If so what are my options? It had a wooden panel screwed over it when I go the van but not sure if this is any better. Any help would be much appreciated. https://i.ibb.co/vq73Ggb/IMG-20190728-155230.jpg There's also two smaller holes on the door side of the van.

  • Vauxhall Astra G Petrol (1998 - 2004) - Price for a van please? 29 Apr 2008 (Forum)
Mrs O has to sell one of these in her professional capacity, and is after a Black Book price for trade and private sale. Parker's and the like don't seem to have the exact model. Vauxhall Astra Envoy car-derived van (same as the estate, but without the windows) 1.6 petrol, first reg 1 July 2002, MOT until July this year, 23k miles at last MOT (and hasn't done much since). It has an old style V5. Would a private sale of a van incur VAT?

  • Renault - damage to me van 3 May 2008 (Forum)
On the 29th of last month I took my Renault trafic (based) 2.5 diesel motorhome to local garage for MOT in the process they damaged it -to which they admitted liability- however they subsequently failed van on emissions and brake stop light. I left it to be seen to, but although I got MOT certificate-they wont give me the bill until I GET ESTIMATE for repair- my friends tell me that this maybe because they (garage) want to load my bill up- what are my options...any advise please. thanx
  • Ford Transit - MK7 folding seats and MOT 24 Jan 2019 (Forum)
If option B, would I have any kind of problems in the MOT if I presented the van without the rear seats nor the brackets? Thank you very much. PD: Find enclosed picture of the floor brackets if that makes any difference. https://i1355.photobucket.com/albums/q710/GusGuts/DSCF5268_zpsfc61ba73.jpg~original
