  • Honest John’s Motoring Agony Column 18-4-2015 18 Apr 2015 (News)
It was listed on the warranty paperwork as a covered item, but they said it might not be covered by the warranty, “as warranty companies were funny people.” They assured me they knew what it was and that it was definitely the DMF, but once they had stripped the engine down they informed me that it was a seal on the DMF, so the warranty company refused to cover the item saying it was "fair wear and tear". This wear and tear was set to cost me £1,600, twice what the local garage would have charged.
  • Volkswagen Reliability Shock in Australia 8 Jun 2013 (News)
."  In my time as HJ I've had issues over VW clutch cable tensioners, brake discs, heater matrix failures, alternator failures, fuel pump failures, fuel tank lifter pump failures, doorlocks, alarm systems, windows ECUs, coil packs, manual gearboxes, timing belt pulleys, bulkhead vent well drains, ABS/ESP modules, timing chains, Twincharger problems, DSG transmissions, DMFs, DPFs...the list goes on and on. Yet readers still believe that by buying a Volkswagen they are somehow buying into a higher level of quality and a higher echelon of car than, for example, a Ford.

Try  http://www.drivethedeal.com   Credit where credit is due A follow up on my case where the, dealer refused to allow me to reject a faulty car I bought from him a month previously and insisted I had to have it transported from Warrington to Manchester at my expense so he could look at it (no mention of fixing it).

MG, London In Europe, a significant proportion of airport taxi fleets are Prius or Prius Plus hybrids. The reason is that they are well suited to taxi work, have no DPFs or DMFs or turbos to worry about and, according to Toyota, regularly reach 400,000 miles on taxi fleets needing only basic maintenance. Nevertheless, offer him £8,500 and see how you get on.   Repackaging I drive a 63 plate Mercedes B180 CDI Sport Automatic, annual mileage approx 10,000, half motorway, half journeys between 3 - 10 miles, previous car a 2012 Nissan Qashqai Tekna 1.5 DCI manual.
