  I have just bought my first diesel - Saab 9-3 2.2 TID. There seem to be some 'variants' in diesel fuel - low sulphur, city diesel... I would appreciate any experiences on which ones are better for fuel consumption, less smoking etc

  Hi, Stuck on this one, after leaving the above for a few hours, I find the diesel has drained back to the fuel tank. No leaks underneath either! I have to then manually prime the diesel back to the engine before it will start again. Any ideas, simular problems out there?

  Caught a snatch of the news yesterday about Ford investing in a new/existing production facility as a high tech diesel engine factory. The reporter said Ford was making this investment as it regarded diesel as "the" fuel of the future. Ten years ago I thought diesel fuel was encouraged by our "leaders", recently less so......are we going the other way again?

  Can anyone explain why Shell Fuel save diesel fuel is available one week/month, and not the next?  I've noticed this to be the case in East Anglia.  It is replaced with "regular diesel" labelling. I had thought its absence co-incidental with liquididty issues at the Essex refinery, but Fuelsave became available again after that was in the news.

  I've done a few searches but didnt come up with much. Do modern diesels engines have an adaptable engine management system, that can adapt to the cetane rating of the fuel in the tank? Will a higher cetane diesel fuel only give performance and/or economy benefits, if the engine is able to adapt to it?

  Having just had starting problems with my 15 month old diesel zafira (injector seal) S&it happens but this was nicely deoderised by the local dealer f.o.c. and a car for the day. However whilst the problem was ongoing, my German colleagues recommended mixing petrol with diesel fuel in a 2 to 30 litre ratio. and claimed that this was the special winter additive by the fuel companies.

  I have a Volvo V70 D5. Can someone confirm if there is a diesel fuel filter in the engibe bay, and if so, where is it? Or does the car only have a diesel filter near the fuel tank? My car has done 115,000 and as I am changing the other filters I wanted to change the diesel filter too.

  I have a Peugeot 106 1.5 diesel. The fuel gauge does not work. A mechanic fitted a new sender unit but its still not working. Is there a fuse to power this and if so where is it located? Also could you please tell me how to replace the fuel gauge assembly?
