  • Ford Focus Ghia 1.8 TDCi Mk1 2003 - Ford Focus 1.8 TDCi Glow Plug Light Flashing 27 Feb 2016 (Forum)
I checked the injectors by turning the engine over and seeing whether fuel dribbles out of them, and they seem fine, leading me to believe the Fuel Pump is the cause of the issue. I'll be taking it to a diesel specialist today to get an idea of price. So, what do you think of my diagnosis, and has anyone got any idea how much it will be to have the fuel pump replaced?

Hello guys, I am new and first timer on this forum and hope someone would lead me in the right direction. I have Honda Accord DTECH 2008 model diesel with 93k on the clock. • SEAT Leon Cupra - Ignition wiring repair lasted 1 month 23 Nov 2015 (Forum)
The RAC guy says the starter motor may have to be replaced because it could be difficult to solder on a terminal to the stump of the terminal left, unless a lead wire is somehow soldered on instead. Does it sound reasonable to have to pay the same mechanic to now replace the starter motor when their wiring repair may have caused the metal fatigue which led to the spade terminal breaking off?
  • 2007 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 71k FSH - Exploding Engine 7 Jul 2014 (Forum)
I'd like to gain a professional engineer's report, and submit it, (if it states turbo failure leading to engine destroyed) and submit it to LR, with a rather more direct request for contribution. Anyone have any advice/recommendations ? Gary
  • Peugeot 2.2 Diesel - Runaway Peugeot 2.2 Diesel 20 Aug 2013 (Forum)
It seems likely that the problem was caused by turbo seals weeping on inlet side causing EGR to slowly coke up( note had coked perviously), followed by instantaneous full failure of turbo seals on Motorway leading to runaway? Has anyone any experience of this? Im anxious as hope to head away again late August and wouldnt like a repeat performance!!!! Thanks Brian
  • Volvo V 60 - Flat Battery 29 May 2013 (Forum)
Volvo Assistance attended, put a meter on the battery, 3 .8 volts i.e totally drained! The car started once the battery had been boosted with jump leads. There were no "messages" to indicate a fault. The technician could offer no explanation, however he did advise that the electrics would not shut down completely until the car was locked by the PCC (key).
  • Mitsubishi Carisma - Intermittent misfire/hesitation at low revs 7 Apr 2013 (Forum)
.I have checked the air filter, intake box and flexi intake pipe for signs of leaks and read the codes of which none show. I guess it could be the spark plugs and leads but I thought i would check here for expert advice on what to try first. I seem to be plauged with this type of fhe fault on older cars and never really found a solution. The only link between them is that I filled all them up at the same branded chain of supermarket petrol (not always same station).
  • Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 98 1.4 Multiple misfire under load 23 Jan 2013 (Forum)
The mechanic said it was a multiple misfire at speed so I've changed the plugs (old ones looked good), HT leads (old ones seemed to show signs of arcing although the resistance was fine), and fitted a new coil pack. I changed one thing at a time and after each change there was an improvement but the problem wasn't solved and the improvement didn't last long.
  • Vauxhall vectra B 1.8 pet 1978/79? Engine x18xe - misfiring Vectra b on tickover 12 Oct 2012 (Forum)
Have tried various things suggested on the various forums youtube etc. New plugs new air filter cleaned carb all leads spark ckecked hoses and tightentened dissconnected and cleaned MAF unit as yet not engine temp sensor. Have read on this site it could be and engine ecu earth fault, but also someone seems to think it could be the ECU itself, but as this is a costly exercise to test repair or replace i thought I'd ask your advice as to my next move.
  • ford focus zetec 2010 - ford warranty - no joy when returning for fix 9 Sep 2012 (Forum)
A couple of months later i returned it as it was doing the same and the engine management light kept coming on, i had read onthe internet it would probably be the HT leads. I informed them of this and again they returned it to me changing 1 spark plug. The car does exactly the same thing and i booked it in with them for a full service costing £200, they told me they didnt change anything as it had been done before.
  • Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 99 1.25 Airbag light stays on 2 Sep 2012 (Forum)
I have also disconnected the two plugs from the airbag module behind the centre console and re-connected with no effect. Disconnected battery negative lead and left it off for a while and re-connected but the light is still on! Just had it on another computer and it came up with a module fault and gave the code B1342 but the mechanic says he's not sure if it is the module as they seldom go wrong and the computer sometimes lies.
  • Ford Focus - Ford Focus 1.0 Ecoboost 31 Jan 2012 (Forum)
This highly efficient, technically advanced powertrain is not only great fun to drive, but it delivers fuel economy improvements and ultra-low CO2 emissions which lead to real world cost savings for our customers.” It will be interesting to see if the claimed fuel consumption translates in the real world!
  • Vauxhall Zafira 05 - 2.2 SRi 16v Petrol - Urgent Help Required - Zafira is tottaly dead. 11 Jan 2012 (Forum)
However upon further investigation it appeared it is not the starter motor it could be something related to behind the ignition could this be a faulty CIM? which was replaced as part of a recall.   The days leading up to this all the dashboard lights came on for a split second whilst driving when the key was in position 3.  The mechanic has had it since last Wednesday. Since then the mechanic has looked at it and now when the key is inserted no lights come on the dashboard, central locking is not working, no lights nothing except the vauxhall sign is displayed on the Radio Console.
  • Peugeot 406 HDI (99 onwards) - ABS fault - ABS sensor 5 Dec 2011 (Forum)
An open circuit / no output reading could nean the sensor is genuinly open circuit or there is a break in one of the two leads that feed it. Before I order a sensor, I noticed (from suppliers pics.) that the sensor assembly terminates from the wheel end in a two pin plug or socket which presumably connects into a wire loom that finds its way back to the ABS unit multiplug.
  • Nissan Almera - Nissan Almera Oil Service 16 Nov 2011 (Forum)
In the workshop we always change the sump washer: the torque is: 25 nm Failure to change the oil will drastically shorten the life of this well built strong motor and lead to a degree of sludging which in modern close-tolerence designed engines is a bad thing.  Get into the habit of checking the rear exhaust of your car to see how it's running: in a well maintained petrol engine it will be fairly clean with very little oil deposits: if the exhaust is very black with alot of oil,  it perhaps shows signs of internal engine wear: such as the big end bearings or valve stem seals worn or oil control rings on the pistons.
  • Peugeot 306 Engine problems 25 Jun 2011 (Forum)
Engine never seems to settle to idle, it always drops down to 500 rpm and revs back up normal idle speed. Sometimes it even stalls and take a couple of attempts to start again. I've changed the HT leads and had new battery, I'm starting to think it might be the alternator as it seems to be whirring a bit. Any ideas and costs? Sorry about the lengthy post, just want some advice so I can weigh up my options.
  • BMW X5 - compensation 19 Apr 2011 (Forum)
Not long after we had it, things started going wrong, battery, electrics, catch on boot, etc......this soon lead to major things like, gas suspension, drives, fuel pumps etc. After investigation we discovered it had been clocked, and that it was an ex police vehicle. All of which we did not know when we bought it.
  • Ford Fiesta 1.25 - Unstable / wobbly engine or wheels? 13 Apr 2011 (Forum)
I thought it was dirty injectors, having used various injector cleaners like Redex and other  fuel cleaners to no avail.  I tried these having had spark plugs and HT leads checked. It turns out it was coil pack related, which has now been recently replaced.  However I now feel when under acceleration, the engine seems flappy / wobbly.  It may be worth mentioning that prior to the coil pack change, I had work done on the front left coil spring and the droplink replaced on the front right .
  • any - 80 mph limit on motorways 20 Mar 2011 (Forum)
I read HJ's article on this siteabout the proposed increase in the motorway speed limit and Brake (the anti motoring charity) saying it will lead to more deaths etc etc. When i am on the motorwayhere in West wales(M4)  doing a true 70mph i am still being overtaken by lots of cars, many of whom are doing approaching 90mph and the odd lunatic having fun at the ton!
