  have had problems now for some time have had new sensor, new air filter, plugs, checked cam, checked air system for leaks, car has gone into auto electrical engineers and they are stumped, runs like a dream without the sensor plugged in, but as soon as the codes are cleared and its re plugged car acts like a nutter, wont pull, wont excellerate, trying to hold at speed and you feel surges and  dying, at times the tick over is erratic, and at worst it will refuse to pull just as you try to come out of a junction, am running it at the mo without sensor plugged in but obviously this is not really a good idea for too long, engine code is po100 so its def a maf problem, so HELP !!!!!

  However, the plugs I removed were gapped at 1.3mm and having spoken to a number of people this seems to be what Ford usually fit. The car seems to run fine with both plug gaps. Can anyone which are correct and why I am seeing a discrepancy? Also what would be the advantage / disadvantage of running with too small / large a gap?

  (if it is, then is the 'zero' speed indicated by the odometer making the EMU reduce the fuel supply, for example, thus causing the running 'problem' described above)?     Can anyone help please? Many thanks in advance

  I was hoping for more and have carried out all the advise as given on various sites on fuel economy. Going slower than 65mph runs me into trouble with HGVs.

  Hope someone can help me here with some info, I have poor cold running for the first few minutes of driving. Then once warm car runs fine. Car starts first time and does not stall. Idle is fine no hunting etc... I unplugged what I thought was the coolant temp sensor on the side of the engine gearbox side, car started fine etc still had problem as mentioned above.

  hi could some body please shed some light on my problem i have a 406 coupe 2.2 hdi  wich will not start when warm it has had a new in tank fuel pump ,new diesel pump ,new cam and crank sensors it has also been to a peugeot dealers to be diagnosed and came up with nothing it has the relevant  fuel pressure if you give it a slight sniff of easy start (not good idea i know) but needed to try some thing it starts instantley and runs faultlessly it also starts and runs fine from cold it was chipped last year before this problem started so i have had the original programme reinstalled thanks in advance

  Hi all Had a prob with my 306. Sometimes the engine will keep running after I remove the key (it eventually stops when I press the brake) and cooling fan will then run constantly, meaning I have to disconnect the battery to prevent it draining. I took it to an amateur mechanic who pointed out a burnt out, melted fuse in the interior fusebox as the problem.

  It started ok today, which was a relief - and all seems and sounds ok, other than a lot of white smoke from the exhaust. I let it idle for 20 mins, but the smoke kept coming. I then took it for a 10 minute run, pushing it up to 4,000 rpm up hills and it seems to have improved markedly. Q1: What would have caused the white smoke? Q2: Is whatever caused this likely to now have been resolved by running the engine faster?

  I am looking to getting this car running again. The problems it is having are:  1. Hard to start 2. Once started, very rough idle, however about 1.5k - 2k revs it runs smooth I have noticed air bubbles flowing in the clear fuel line between the fuel filter and the fuel pump.

  i have fitted a 405 dturbo to my 306 dturbo after the last engine packed it in . the engine is from a 1995 dturbo 405 and the car is a 00 306 van . i am using the lucas pump off my previous engine with injectors too . in conjunction with the 405 engine im using its own manifold and garret turbo too . the wiring is from a 306 straight diesel slightly modified to run a dturbo . the engine sounds fine running and all but it has no power what-so-ever . when i remove the pip going from the intercooler to the fuel pum and place my finger on it at the intercooler there is only a small amount of air flow , anyone know whats wrong ?

    I understand the suspension is quite hard - reliability seems to be OK and the car should be fun to drive.  Also it would hopefully be suitable for my daughter to learn to drive in and cheap to run.  Thanks to everyone who responds.

  The coil is new and so is the distributor. All the valves have been checked and cylinder head has been overhauled. Its running on a Twin Carb and the engine is running very smoothly without any problem.  The only fault is the engine continues to turn backward for a few turns before it finally stopped. It sounds as if the compression within the combustion chamber forces the engine turns backward when I switched off the ignition.

  Naturally she is worried has to whether the car is going to let her down, particularly if she has any of the Grandchildren in it. The garage that did this have run a full diagnostic on the car and maintain there's nothing wrong with the car. She's taken it to VW, who have also run a full diagnostic on the car and they confirm that all is well. What's the purpose of this light, is it to signify that there's something wrong with the car or simply to indicate the car may be contributing to the Planets demise more than usual?!

  I have two lights on at all times when the car is running (136 diesel) One is the engine check light & the other shows the car skidding Have purchased a reader and the codes are P2009 & P0664 P2009 Intake Manifold Runner Control Circuit Low (Bank 1 P0664 Intake Manifold Tuning Valve Control Circuit Low (Bank 2) Can anyone explain what these are & what I need to do The car runs fine & the only difference I noticed since these came on (at the same time) is when the wheel slips in frost or snow the engine does not cut down on power as previous.

  when i drive my punto i get a swooshing noise coming from the passenger side,i thought it might be the water pump but theres no sqeeuking. theres no water leaks,the car is running fantastic with no running probems at all. when i say swooshing its like if you put water in a bottle and tilt it to the left and right(the water moves left and right). could there be a airlock somewere. ive turned the little black screw on the engine to let pressure out but none is coming out just water. im a bit puzzled,does anybody have the same problem that could enlighten me please..

  Renault Kangoo Diesel 1.9 van always starts first time in the mornings, but will not rev-up, just runs on a rough tick-over. Switch off and restart and it runs fine. I have to do this every morning. Using the vehicle is not a problem during the day; it will stop and restart all day long, which suggest something to do with cold start.

  Morning all. My newly aquired Vectra Ls 1.8 petrol has just had a new thermostat, and now when it reaches normal operating temp the cooling fan kicks in...

  Had fault checked at both independent and dealer and both times told rear o2 sensor (have replaced this) and fan not working speed3 although it is. Each occasion charged for diagnostics and told engine running ok. Still get EML (or Bob as we've taken to calling it) coming on then off with no apparent pattern - tends not to come on when on long run eg motorway or out of town or until engine warm. Temperature gauge fluctuates but stays between 1/4 and 1/2 way points on any journey.

  Is the car safe to drive, subject to lack of rear wipers, clock etc that are apparently controlled by this fuse, or will the car be running off the battery and not charging the battery?
