Oil Use - Nissan Primera 19 Oct 2015 (Forum)
I have a 98 2.0 Nissan Primera which seems to be using a lot of oil. I has gone from max on the dipstick to min in just under 2000 miles. I average about 500 miles of mainly motorway driving a week. The car has a Nissan Approved warranty and when they looked at it they said they could find nothing obvious and filled it up and told me to check it after a 1000 miles. -
Electronic dipstick failure on my BMW 3 Series - what was wrong with the old physical disptick? 14 Jul 2012 (Ask HJ)
BMW has abandoned the good old-fashioned dipstick that was cheap, reliable and accurate, for an electronic one. The system on my 3 Series has jammed on... -
Engine failure 8 Mar 2016 (Forum)
I bought this car from an Audi dealer four an a half years ago, the car is now over six years old. It has always been serviced by the main dealer, almost exactly to the schedule (I do 10k miles pa). It has now done 61500 miles. -

Buying nearly new - what to check? 23 Apr 2016 (Forum)
I have my eye on a 2015 car with 3.5k miles. I've bought used before, but nothing with any warranty left and not from a main dealer! I'm versed in the usual things to look at and questions to ask, but this is rather different to buying a 5-year-old motor. -
Ford Mondeo - Which mondeo? 22 Apr 2011 (Forum)
Hi all, Bit of advice please for someone about to buy his second ever used car.... There are two mondeos that I have my eye on and was wondering which, taken as read that both are in the same good nick, you consider to be the better buy? Mondeo 1: 05 Plate 1.8 LX hatch 30k Miles £3,250 or 53 Plate 2.0TDCi Graphite hatch 92k Miles £2,500 (both FSH, 12 month RAC warranty) Am confused because the diesel one will have lower fuel consumption, is £750 cheaper, but is 2.5 years older and with 3x the mileage...... -
New car dealers - numbered days 18 Nov 2020 (Forum)
Dealers will become first line manufacturer support, service centres and (maybe) used sales. But not new car sales process, Pricing is moving up to manufacturer. Manufacturers will have much stronger control of after sales, warranty claims etc (a good thing), removing the more questionable dealers who drive a fair few threads on this forum, and ultimately cost sales to manufacturers. -
FIAT Panda (2003 - ) - Dilemma: should I just put in for p/x? 2 Jul 2008 (Forum)
I've had my Panda for a few weeks now, but............ I love the Panda- great looks and I love the drivig position. It's just.......I can't get used to it. I just cannot get used to the clutch, or the handling in general. I've driven many different cars over the past few years and always got used to them quite quickly. But the Panda is being extremely stubborn! -
Deposit on used car deal 14 Aug 2005 (Forum)
We feel we are, so any advice where we stand on this? *After agreeing on a price of £8400, he immediatly added £56 VAT for the 2 year warranty, which they advertise as free. Now I have bought used cars with warranties before and they have absorbed the price in the final agreed price, but he was having none of this... So if anybody is thinking of buying a car from - DELETED. -

Vauxhall - supagard 8 Apr 2010 (Forum)
No one seems to want to be bothered with this despite us paying 300 pounds for it. Supagard said we should buy some more of their product to put on but as we said - 'why should we - we have just paid 300 pounds'. Any advice as to any thought on why this panel looks so different to the rest of the car would be much appreciated. -
Peugeot 4007 (2007 - ) - 08 2.2 Slipping Clutch 20 Dec 2009 (Forum)
Took the tech for a drive and he confirmed so. All good till he told me that PUG have a limit of 20 000 miles warranty on the clutch, and as I have done 23 330 I would most likely be liable for all costs for this repair!!! Cost estimated upward of £1000. I use the car daily on a normal 20 mile commute, no back roads, go through a few towns and a bit of motorway. -
What new car for £8-9k? 19 May 2007 (Forum)
Central locking, electric windows, ABS - I can live without them. I like to keep the car for at least 3 years but prefer to keep for 5 years. Car will be used mainly on town with weekend long journeys on motorways, however, if I change job, I may need to travel on motorway everyday. Not willing to go for used car as I suffered in past with used cars. -
Can you clarify whether the Nissan Tiida is an import, and whether it is a worthwhile purchase? 1 Sep 2010 (Ask HJ)
We have been to a car supermarket and seen a lovely Nissan Tiida. We were tempted to buy this (unregistered, with 37 miles on the clock) car. However,... -
Volkswagen - excellent service from main dealer 16 Jun 2009 (Forum)
I just thought I'd share my experience today at a VW main dealer today. I booked my Sept '06 56 plate Passat in for a service before the warranty expires. I phoned on Tuesday and they said they could do it today - good start. Dropped the car off at 7.30 am (useful for me) and was given the keys to a 09 Golf estate. Had a call at about 10 am to ask if I wanted the (recommended) brake fluid change and air con service inc 'refresh'. -
Honda Civic - Which Honda Civic? 26 Jul 2017 (Forum)
I am helping my son (aged 27) buy his first car as he now needs a car for his new job. He has been a regular named driver on my policy. We have decided a Honda Civic fits his requirements, budget £10000. Considering the following two examples, which do you think makes more sense, the newer vehicle with remaining manufacturer warranty seems a good buy at this price from a car supermarket, but it is a basic spec with a 1.4 engine. -

Dealers & the law - contains no naming/shaming! 16 Nov 2008 (Forum)
Gentlemen - A chap has - let us say - 5 or 6 cars kept off road. V5 left in previous owner's name in all cases. Cars offered for sale, but with the very firm condition that there is no warranty. I thought, surely that's illegal? -
