My mum is in her 70s and need a used car - what do you recommend?

My Mum is in her 70s and a good driver (recently done a refresher course). She would like some advice on what car to buy to replace her ageing Ford Focus (2007). Her requirements include: manual gearbox, second-hand purchase, nippy engine (not underpowered), hatchback, petrol (or perhaps hybrid), £10,000 budget, electric windows, parking sensors. She does less than 10,000 miles per annum. Sat nav would be a nice-to-have. What would you recommend she puts on her shortlist?

I'd recommend a Hyundai i20. It meets all of your mother's requirements and is a well-specced car for the money. £10,000 will get a 2018 or 2019 model, with lots of its original five-year warranty remaining. Look for a 1.0-litre T GDI model for extra performance. Also consider the very similar Kia Rio or a Ford Fiesta. Both a great value little cars that'll be cheap to run.
