Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - 06 Windscreen/Bluetooth Problem 23 Jan 2008 (Forum)
Since then the bluetooth/voice control function has stopped working altogether. I have tried a search for the car on a few different phones and none show it. My question realy is are these two systems related and as a result could this be just one problem or are they seperate. The reason I am asking is the car came with a 2 year warranty from new (I live in ROI) and the warranty is just up. -
Consumer Rights Act in practice 22 Mar 2016 (Forum)
I was recently interested in a car. Before going to see I decided to check warranty on offer. Reference was made to being available up to 24 months costs varying as to cover, time etc. No mention was made of dealer warranty. -
Various - Help me choose! 25 Apr 2014 (Forum)
VW Golf 1.4 TSi 122 PS manual with 5 yrs warranty For the sake of simplicity we'll assume that all cars have the same extras and cost the same. I intend to keep the car for about 8 years and am therefore concerned about reliability. -
Any - After market warranties 9 Jan 2022 (Forum)
Hardly an original topic, but I'd appreciate the forum's thoughts on after market warranties. I've had these warranties with two different companies since 2010, but only claimed once in all that time. I had a second occasion to claim last October when our car failed its MOT and needed work costing just under £300, but the garage owner told me he didn't want to deal with a warranty company because of the hassle it had caused him in the past. -

Mercedes Benz E Class - Mercedes Benz UK & Dealership 28 Oct 2014 (Forum)
I have spoken many times to MBUK who have the worst customer service of any company I have ever used. They take notes give you a reference and say speak to the dealer. The dealership are following warranty and quality processes by MB UK. We have a car though since July which has spent more time away from us than with us. the dealer are supplying a car to use however they have proposed a discount of a new car (E Class). -
Dealer Warranty Issues 20 Nov 2014 (Forum)
Hi guys, i'll put the flame suit on here, we are a small motor trader stocking around 10 cars at one time. We sold a popular diesel saloon 2006 with approx 80k some 10 months ago to a very difficult customer. The turbo housing cracked on the car 2 months in, we replaced this (even after he was abusive to us and we offered a full refund to get rid of him!) -
VW Polo 1.4 - Where do I stand? 30 Jan 2015 (Forum)
My girlfriend's dad recently bought her a VW Polo 1.4 05 with 45000 on the clock. Seemingly in excellent condition. Approx £3.4K. We have the RAC Gold 3 Month Warranty. I've never bought or owned a car before. We've had the car for one month now and have encountered several problems: - The coil pack went on the motorway and we needed to have this replaced. Warranty covered 50% of repair but still cost us £157. - Noticed a ticking noise so took it to very reputable garage. -
BMW 525 - False Invoice and Warranty amendment by Dealer 14 Aug 2017 (Forum)
We missed these details and when I noticed them I rang them up and had to argue about the warranty which had been advertised as '3 months' on Autotrader. They were adament that was part of the deal and I was 200% positive it wasn't as we simply would not have done it. In the end they are posting us a 3 month Warranty to cover us via a third party and apologised for their (deliberate) mistake. -
Buying Privately - Risky? 15 Dec 2003 (Forum)
Now that it's very easy to buy a warranty form various companies, i was thinking that surely that takes the risk out of buying a second hand motor from the classifieds. As long as the warranty is comprehensive, you're covered? As i'm in the market to buy a new used car i thought i'd see if anyone has any views on the matter in case i lose my hard earned cash. -
Faults with cars just out of warranty 11 Aug 2004 (Forum)
Hi all, A friend of mine bought a nearly new car from a well known franchised dealer networks approved used scheme about 2 years ago - it was about a year old at the time. The warranty on this vehicle expired a few months ago (2-3), and recently the car developed a fault with the ECU. -
Peugeot RCZ 1.THP - Main dealer used car warranty, wear & tear 7 Sep 2018 (Forum)
But we had to pay about 130+ pounds to have this done and the dealers representative that we bought the car from to confirm if it was covered by warranty. They said the fault not covered under warranty as it is "wear and tear." I feel that as the fault became apparent when we'd had the car for just under 8 months and had covered only 700 miles that the dealer we bought the car from should cover the cost in full or at the very least in part. -
Renault Clio - Second Hand Car - Dealer Warranty Fraud 7 Sep 2023 (Forum)
I recently purchased a used car from a dealership in the Greater London area. When I arrived to collect the car it was filthy and I had to wait for it to be valeted prior to driving away (I should have known from that moment to walk away). -
BMW 5 Series - BMW 520D - AA Warranty - Cargiant bad experience 17 May 2017 (Forum)
Is there anything I can do about my predicament.Ive heard about warranty companies trying to wiggle themselves out of paying. Cargiant don't seem interested even though they were pressuring me at the time to buy this warranty! I think its poor showing to missell me a warranty which doesn’t seem to cover a great deal and won't let me use main dealers such as BMW themselves. -
Kia Magentis 2.7 V6 LS Auto. - Manufacturer's Warranty 27 Feb 2011 (Forum)
My lack of knowledge on this marque over the last few years prompts the question: What was the original manufacturer's warranty on this particular car in terms of period/ mileage? I'd be obliged for any knowledgeable response. -
Ford - Ford Direct vs Ford Authorised Dealership 6 Sep 2009 (Forum)
I am trying to research the difference between a Ford Direct car and just a car that comes from an authorised Ford dealer. I know that they have been reconditioned by Ford, have the 2 year warranty, and 1 year roadside assistance, but I can't figure out if Ford have an "approved used car" scheme apart from the Ford Direct scheme (for cars sold via authorised dealers), and the possible impact on: * Condition * Warranty * Value * Re-sale value * Any other risks for a non-Ford Direct car (other manufacturers do seem to have approved used car schemes, with definite criteria for condition). -
BMW 3 Series - Charge for fault finding while under warranty? 2 Oct 2019 (Forum)
A work colleague bought a 320 from a BMW main dealer under BMW's Approved Used scheme a couple of months back. The car is just over a year old, with the balance of the 3-year warranty remaining etc. He asked me about some recurrent squeaking noises from the rear suspension, so I went to have a look with him (he's not mechanically-minded). -
MINI Cooper S R56 - MINI Cooper S Timing Chain Failure 21 Oct 2019 (Forum)
I'm wondering where i stand with regards to warranty. The car is out of it's 3 year manufacturer warranty, and i've read that BMW/MINI parts come with a 2 year warranty, but only if you pay for them, if it's done under warranty, this does not apply, and they are only covered by the cars 3 year warranty. -
BMW 320 CI - What are my rights? 25 Jul 2015 (Forum)
I have paid for a car that I cannot use and have taxed and insured it for it to just sit on my drive. I am extremely frustrated and feel I want to take legal action.
