  • Renault Scenic Feedback 23 May 2006 (Forum)
Good Points: Great 120bhp diesel engine, pulls well - seems to be even better with a full load! Loads of storage compartments, 11 in total! Interior very adaptable, nice driving position. Nice spread of ratios on 6 speed box. Well laid out dash. Bad points: Both rear sunblinds have snapped. Rubberised coating rubbed off interior door grabs.
  • Oooh! Oooh! I found it! I found it! 2 Aug 2004 (Forum)
Fun - it\'s a 4x4 that seats four and lets me sling my canoe/mountain bike/beer in the back or just go \"naked\" (no, not as in the BR Poll) for a bit of greenlaning. Mrs ND\'s approval - She\'s going to use it for work Storage - It\'s going to replace her car, therefore we have a space on the drive to fill :o) Wooohoooo!!!! Off to test drive one this afternoon, then on to the lease company it is. Cheers HJ!
  • Sharing my garage - insurance question 25 Oct 2002 (Forum)
Next door neighbour has a collection of classic sports cars - some kept on the driveway, others in a storage place 45 min drive away. They are planning to double the size of their double garage. Being neighbourly (and good friends with them) I was going to suggest that during the building work, they keep a couple of the cars in our garage.
  • Mercedes Benz 300sl - The Sun's out the tops going down 3 Jun 2024 (Forum)
It had been sat  undriven since the early 80s  (befor I was born). After getting it recoverd to storage on my mum's property I with the help if a a friend got it looking like new and driving. I had IT MOTd and it's been sitting up waiting for some nice weather.  I've decided that today is the day I'm going to take it out on the road for th first time.
  • Parallel Parking Against The Traffic 9 Sep 2020 (Forum)
Did this when I broke down yesterday, since the only parking spot was on the other side of the road and I didn’t think to push the car through a U-turn, which would have been more difficult and obstructive. Apparently this is illegal in Taiwan, Fine, tow and storage fees of the order of 60 quid. Legal in the UK in daylight but illegal in darkness. Fines up to A GRAND (!!!! ). I didn't know that, and probably did it quite often. Phew! https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5740463/You-parking-car-wrong-way-risking-fine-1-000-strict-rules.html I recovered the car today, taking a charged battery to it by bus.
  • Winter Tyres - Now or never? 19 Jan 2012 (Forum)
Would it be wiser to invest in rims as well as tyres, or just get the tyres swapped off the current alloys every spring and autumn? We have garage space for storage. I'm thinking towards the rims and tyres option, but any advice much appreciated.    SM
  • Motorway slip road 18 Jun 2009 (Forum)
The gate leads into a very minor lane, not important enough to have a bridge or a tunnel across the M way. Google satellite show nothing of importance down the lane, a couple of farms and a caravan storage site. The lane leads to another, equally minor, lane. It's not a spot where emergency vehicles would want to get on. I wonder if there is anything strategic buried in the fields which the Sat can't see !
  • will my car be put on the write off database? 14 Aug 2008 (Forum)
any information would be greatly appreciated as i need to get the car moved as quickly as possible before i start getting charged storage fees. thanks. xxx
  • New Baby = New Car 9 Dec 2005 (Forum)
Some friends have suggested an MPV, but I'm more inclined towards a diesel estate since we need luggage space more than seats. The main priorities are: - safe - reliable - good storage - decent legroom - economical Two possible estate options that have been suggested are the Toyota Avensis and Skoda Octavia. Neither the wife nor I is too bothered by badge status. We'd probably prefer to buy new, and then keep it for five or six years.
  • For Sale sign in car window illegal... 29 Nov 2004 (Forum)
The guy got a small fine but the local authority said he couldn't have the car back until he paid the storage fees which came to several times what the car was worth so the car will likely end up crushed. Meanwhile the local drug gangs are fighting a turf war outside your window. The lunatics have taken over the asylum and the Council chamber near you.
  • Rover quest- day 2 23 Nov 2001 (Forum)
Whilst this is a departure from last nights modest inclinations. I'm really missing my previous( larger) car with good room for storage etc. - The bar would also be useful in fact. What about economy/insurance particularly ? Shared experiences appreciated. CHRIS W.
  • 5k miles in Octavia 2.0TDi estate 16 Jan 2007 (Forum)
surprisingly useful, something you don?t miss until you?ve tried it. Massive and practical rear loadspace, and plenty of other storage space within the car Useful ?multipurpose? boot floor with hidden underfloor storage, or use it to divide the massive loadspace and stop things sliding around. Also creates a completely flat load deck with no lip from the rear door when in place (without it, there is a significant drop from the boot lip into the boot) Cons Short first gear Lack of electrically-folding mirrors ?
  • ANY - RIP DOT3? 10 Aug 2020 (Forum)
5 big helpings of the M-word from 5 different filling stations later, I’m thinking they’'ve maybe stopped making it. Since its better than DOT-4 (less hygroscopic so longer service and storage life, higher viscosity) and quite a lot cheaper, I suppose its demise was predictable. May have to change to DOT 4. Taiwanese seem to use ground coffee (Free Honda Accord reservoir screen) https://forumosa-12829.kxcdn.com/uploads/default/optimized/3X/2/6/2612a987001377198 b2f712eb9b1e1099bd8f7be_2_666x500.jpeg
  • Volkswagen Polo II (1991 - 1994) - 92 1.05 water in rear passenger footwell 24 Dec 2009 (Forum)
Hi I have found the source of the rain water leak into the rear passenger nearside footwell,it is getting in down past the passenger window into the door and then exiting from both the water drain holes in the bottom edge of the door and also between the inner door skin and the door trim (under the storage pocket at the door base). The later is the problem as the water sits on the rubber door seal and then runs over onto the carpet and then into the footwell.Has anyone removed a polo door trim to look inside the door and can tell me if their is some kind of deflector in the door to shed any water out to the drain holes or anything to stop the water exiting insde as apposed to through the drain holes in the boottom of the door.It could be that the drain holes are partially blocked and just causing an over spill. help appreciated before I remove the door skin next weekend.
  • Peugeot 406 rear o/side "thumping" noise 23 Nov 2005 (Forum)
(it's a deaper "rubber hammer" type knocking than that)but everything is OK. I've checked the internals - rear facing seat + mounting, spare wheel & tools fixings, side storage boxes etc. etc. and I just can't find anything that is loose or suspect. Is there a common fault on these cars...it's driving me nuts.
  • Is this a road? 8 Mar 2005 (Forum)
The driver removing the van told me it was being removed at the request of the DVLA. His family are trying to retrieve the van which has been accumulating a £12 per day storage fee. Is the concrete ramp part of the road, if it is why are ramps not marked with yellow or red lines when in a restricted road. The stock answer by police to any vehicle obstructing these ramps is "they are private property and we have no powers. So who is right the police or DVLA.
  • Transporter, Vivaro, Transit - Small Motor Vans: What you need to know! 14 Apr 2013 (Forum)
The Vivaro has space under the passenger seats for quite a lot of food and biscuits, but you will need a storage container.  The space is restricted by the giblets of the seat, and unless you use an anti slip mat, the low open box that will fit, will slide irritatingly forward everytime the Micra driver brakes for no apparent reason.

This if priced sensibly make for a better investment. Anyhoo, mind wanderings as usual. Has anyone installed solar and/or battery storage, and how has it worked out?
  • Hired Driver with illegal Trade Plates 31 Oct 2022 (Forum)
She has opted to go to court as she is claiming that the driver and his company misled her into believing that by using the trade plates everything was covered. She has had to pay to remove her truck from storage and get another company to drive it back to the Port. What does the law say in such an instance. Can 2 people be charged for the same offence, can she be said to have allowed the driver to drive her truck without insurance?
