  They then were quite pushy and sold me a 1.9 TDI, great bodywork i test drove it and thought i could deal with it. However, speaking to my father in law on the sunday, he said that frequent trips to France in a 1.9 tdi would be stupid if I had enough to buy a 2.0 tdi. Had a think about it, and he was right, so i phoned the audi dealer 1, apologised, and said it definately was a 2.0 tdi i was after. I then found a 2.0 tdi 30 miles away at audi main dealer 2, and when i got there the salesman told me that audi main dealer 1 wasn't part of the same group, so i would need my money back.

  Awesome brakes. 11. CD player and leather steering wheel. 12. Refined at motorway speed - useful in France. Things I don't like: 1. Ride a bit fidgety on those fat 17'' wheels. 2. Auto wipers not sensitive enough in drizzle (apparently fixed on the 2006 model) 3. Changing the front bulbs. Grrr!! 4.A bit more attention need on some internal plastics, the heater controls feel a bit cheap as does the plastic surrounding the gear stick.

  To be used around the Northumberland area, on tarmac rather than loose surfaced roads. They have lived for some years around Basel, moving between Switzerland, Germany, and France, so are used to using Winter tyres as required, but of course, the weather conditions there are more stable than in the UK, and with the appropriate levels of road management. I'm moderately experienced with the detail of Land Rover 4x4 between 1960 and 2000, doing DIY maintenance, but have missed out on later developments.

  I have had not the slightest problem with my Ceed Estate having bought it new in July 08 and had it serviced at WLMG Wooburn Moor nr High Wycombe. It was serviced and MOT'd in late June (53000 miles) prior to driving to the South of France for two weeks. In the hot weather in late July/early August I started to pick up a low whine on accelerating away which then disappeared as speed increased. I kept my window open more than usual and the whine started to get louder and did not go away until I got up to say, 60mph - of course engine noise might have concealed the whine.

  I am tempted to have a replacement engine fitted as my research suggests that a head change is long-winded, potentially problematic (stripped head bolts, ..) and may not cure any other problems that engine has suffered? My other problem is that I now live in France! However, I could trailer the car to the UK if relevant, although I have seen a Cardiff company advertising on Ebay who say they collect cars for engine replacement even from mainland Europe... Other options are to try and sell the car as is (shame as in stunning condition in golden brown with tan leather - very unusual) or even break it myself!

  It has to help, doesn`t it - not least his music. After two days there, we then blasted back into France, for yet more shopping - really pushing it and I resorted to a couple of paracetamol somewhere on an Autobahn, pushing on 100mph and my back and shoulder muscles protesting. You`re fighting to keep the van on the road at that speed - but at least the engine sounds relaxed.

  A month after returning from Prague, I'll fly back out, take the train to collect wife, babies, and car, attend a family wedding, and then we'll have a week's leisurely drive home via friends near Brussels. In between these two holidays however I will take part in a Boy's Biking Holiday to France; it's this holiday that I'd appreciate some help with, please. This time, for the first time (there have been two great group biking holidays before), none of us will have wives or girlfriends as pillions which (a) makes it possible to more easily rack up the miles, and (b) makes it easier to take tents for camping, so we will, for fun.

  To get back to "true" Normal, I have to press 'raise' again to take it (successfully) to the Mid-High position, then lower it back to Normal. The car then drives/rides as normal. (2) Driving just after Easter in France on good A roads (130 kph), the car would sometimes ride as if on the bump stops, i.e. every bump or undulation in the road would be felt with a little bump and a small upwards reaction. When I stopped and checked the height, it was clear that it was indeed low at both front and rear.
