  • Renault Clio II (1998 - 2001) - 1999 1.2 Engine cuts out. 12 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Then later on it did it again, but this time wouldn't start. The aa came out had a fiddle with the fuel relay and it started fine, However its stuck at my house now, not starting. Could it be an intermittent fuel pump? fuel relays? crank sensor?

  • Pump for transferring biodiesel to fuel tank 24 Jan 2009 (Forum)
I buy in 25 litre containers and use a rudimetary suction pump to empty about half of it from container to fuel tank and then lift the container up and pour the rest in using a big funnel. I'd like to get a pump that I can screw into the thread on the container but can't decide which sort would be best - I've seen item number 190281991079 on ebay and this other one http://www.online-pumpshop.com/xcart/product.php?
  • Audi A3 + S3 (1996 - 2001) - 00 1.8T chitty, chitty, put, put 8 Sep 2008 (Forum)
No performace issues, just sounded like someone was tapping an empty tin and a small hiss (no, there wasn't a freak in the boot..haha) Anyway, the sound has now gone (after 50 miles of driving) do you think it was something in the fuel working it's way through. There was a slight whine aswell which makes me think it maybe the fuel pump..Tank 3/4 fuel of V-power from a good garage. Penny for yer thoughts Cheers

  • Mercedes Benz - 03 2199 Mercedes poor fuel consumption 1 Aug 2008 (Forum)
Also the car only does 42mpg despite it spending much of its life doing 55mph, the handbook says it should do 55mpg. The third issue is the fuel consumption indicator on the dashboard says it is averaging 58mpg. Is this a dirty injector fault? I have tried redex but no difference. All help appreciated
  • Government to slow expansion of bio-fuels 8 Jul 2008 (Forum)
The transport secretary announced in parliament today that the UK was slowing its expansion of bio-fuels policy because of the impact it is having on food prices. Now was I the only person that saw this coming - wasn't it obvious that if you introduce manadatory levels of such a thing then the farmers know the oil companies have no choice but to buy it and so what will they produce ?
  • Renault - 1999 2.8 Master(van) wont start 29 Jun 2008 (Forum)
My Renault Master van has been stood for about a year and won't start. I have by-passed the fuel solenoid and have fuel to the injectors (checked this by cracking the pipes), the engine turns over and exhaust smokes but no start. I have checked out google and it seems to suggest the glo-plugs need replacing, would this cause it not to start-even on a warm day in summer?
  • Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 1998 TD - fuel stop solenoid 7 Jun 2008 (Forum)
I have a fuel stop solenoid fault on my peugeot 306 td 1998 's' reg, Think its XUD type with a lucas pump. New solenoid costs £300 from peugeot (its the 3 pin type with the immob built into it, can only get a new one as they are a one shot type) Does anyone know where i can get one cheaper?
  • How economical could a car be made 22 May 2008 (Forum)
Shortly after I started driving we had the mid-seventies fuel crisis. Some people in the group I socialised with got incredibly good fuel economy by modifying small cars with the BMC 'A' series engine, such as Minis, Minors and the odd A35. The basics seem to be a gas flowed head, small (was it 3/4" SU?)
  • Renault Megane (1999 - 2002) - 2002 1.9dci - redex fuel additive 25 Feb 2008 (Forum)
    i have a renault megane 2002 diesel 1.9dci i recently added redex diesel fuel additive to a full tank of diesel two days later my service light came on with the message check injectors , is that a coincidence or is it down to the additive and why did the message come up , i took it to the garage who reset the computer and told me to come back if the message comes on again i didnt tell them i put redex in just in case it invalidated the warranty {year and engine details added to subject header, as per the 3 separate requests that you overlooked!}
  • Driving in Cyprus - any experience? 14 Dec 2007 (Forum)
From the net, hiring cost seems reasonable though. Also they have a weird system of providing car full tank of fuel and then expects you return them with as little fuel as possible! Fuel pumps there also shut down by 6 pm (and by 3 pm on weekends). PS: I've no intention of moving northern Cyprus. Will entirely be in southern part.
  • Toyota - Corolla 2005 Diesel Not Starting no fuel 11 Nov 2007 (Forum)
However this morning it would not start (there was a clicking noise when I tried), but no starter motor. I got 8l of diesel and poured it in the tank and operated the bleeding button on the top of the fuel pump (for quite a while). Initially when I tried to start again the clicking was gone but the engine still didn't turn over. However after a delay the clicking started happening continuously. Anything I can try or am I going to have to get a mechanic to look at it.
  • Citroen Xsara (1997 - 2004) - 01 yr HDI Part No for Low Press Fuel Pump (110) 14 Oct 2007 (Forum)
Hi I have a 01 Xsara hdi 110 which has now done 122k miles, I would like to change the low pressure fuel pump (before it fails and leaves me stranded). Mine has the VDO pump, Citroen part no.1525 T4. How can I find the equivalent Peugeot part number? I know there are 3 different types of pumps fitted to the Xsara and want to be sure that I am buying the correct one and it is easier to source a Peugeot one.

Measure your cars drag. http://auto.howstuffworks.com/question497.htm And `sweetspot` for optimum speed, re fuel consumption cut & paste "In general, smaller, lighter, more aerodynamic cars will get their best mileage at higher speeds. Bigger, heavier, less aerodynamic vehicles will get their best mileage at lower speeds.
  • Corsa key barrel and codes 9 Jun 2007 (Forum)
Easy start or petrol straight into air intake runs only as long as it is there. No running on tank's fuel. Vauxhall wants a fortune to recode a new key and need it at garage which is difficult since it wont drive. We live 30 miles from nearest. Is it the ecu cutting off the fuel ? does it even have one .
  • Triumph TR2 Not Starting 21 Sep 2006 (Forum)
It doesn't seem to want to pull fuel into the engine?? The engine has not been run for maybe 18 months or more, could it be stale petrol? Any ideas? Dave
  • Can spark plugs improve fuel efficiency? 24 Jul 2006 (Forum)
This is substantially higher than what it has been achieving pre-service (35mpg, average). Apart from standard fluid changes (coolant/oil etc - which have never affected fuel efficiency before) the only thing replaced were spark plugs. I kept the oil topped up anyway, so I was wondering if this reduced drinking habit could really have come from something as cheap to replace as spark plugs?
  • Peugeot 106 1.1 Starting Problems 1 Jul 2006 (Forum)
Most of the time it needs at least 3 attempts. Sometimes it needs several attempts. When it does not start there is no fuel coming from the injector, but there is always fuel pressure to the throttle body. I have changed the injector and the injector relay but this has not rectified the problem. I have dismantled the fuel pressure regulator and it all looks clean.
