Honda CR-V III (2007 - ) - CR-V Revision Due 17 Sep 09 4 Dec 2009 (Forum)
See here: http://www.honda.co.jp/CR-V/catalog/ So far there's no information about specification changes, although there is gossip about the i-DTEC diesel engine, automatic transmission for the diesel and a rear facing camera that doesn't rely on the navigation/hands free phone option. -
Tongue in cheek article in the Guardian (Nov 2005) 4 Jun 2009 (Forum)
I want to make everything bad for them. I want to see less parking, higher petrol prices, more speed cameras and road charging to fund the eventual elimination of roads." The 'full' article: http://tinyurl.com/p8yjbc (Links to an anti-car article in the Nov 2005 Guardian) To be honest, people like this reassure me because in proving they are so mind-bogglingly stupid and detached from the real world, they immediatley discredit their own argument. -
Misaligned lights 3 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Came across one last evening at approx 7.45pm and I thought he was looking for hostile aircraft the way his lights were pointing. Why can't cameras pick these sort of things up? Good old fashioned policing used to deal with this, but what's the answer now? Concrete. -
Hi- Viz Jackets 2 Apr 2008 (Forum)
Watching the "Police, Camera, Action" type TV programs I notice that drivers, upon being stopped by a police car, are often invited to leave their own vehicle and sit in the back of the police car whilst their details are being checked. -
After selling your car 16 Oct 2007 (Forum)
I have put the time i sold the car next to the date. What happens if the new owner decides to speed and gets flashed by the speed camera etc? Where do i stand if the address he has given is false etc? Just me being worried -
Legality of DIY video evidence 31 May 2007 (Forum)
I'd posted a while ago about the utility of DIY in-car video recording - maybe the subject heading was not clear (no replies!). A few of the recent "idiot, camera, crash" programmes have showed footage from privately-installed video recordings - a growing trend in the USA, it would appear. There must have been times when other backroomers would have welcomed an incident/accident being caught 'on tape' (provided they weren't the guilty partry, of course!). -
Bikers and Truvelos 25 May 2007 (Forum)
Apology if this has been posted - can't find it in forum search though it was in the news last week. My BMW-riding colleague has often chortled that the forward facing cameras don't catch bikes - must show him this story when he gets back from holiday. A Dunstable biker had been making a habit of riding past three of these every day at 100mph while making victory gestures - this presumably annoyed the police so much that they actually traced him ... -
Radar Detectors 20 Mar 2007 (Forum)
I'd like to ask the forum: has a radar detector ever saved you from getting a ticket? I don't mean the GPS units which have the speed camera locations programmed in, but the ones informing of a radar source. -

NIP not sent 4 Apr 2005 (Forum)
Hello I posted a couple of weeks back re getting caught by a mobile camera team doing 45-50 in a 40 limit. This happened 19 days ago now, and i was under the impression that the NIP had to be put in the post by the police within 14 days. Is this correct? I am reluctant to start believing i have got away with it, but what other explanation is there? -
Speed thresholds 7 Oct 2004 (Forum)
I was doing less than 85 (approx 82/83) heading towards the bridge, saw the police car too late, worried I have been caught on camera. Regards. -
no car week 8 Jul 2004 (Forum)
We are as motorists taking a bashing from politicians with ever increasing fuel prices speed cameras etc. It seems to be their aim in life to get us off the roads. I suggest a no car week and the whole country uses our public transport system. I would arrive at work just in time to go home and save all that money on fuel and parking etc. -
New Tory motoring proposals 7 Jul 2003 (Forum)
Reqad this weekend that IDS and co are proposing a motorway speed limit of 80mph, the removal of speed humps and the re-siting of speed camera away from revenue generating sites to sites where there is a pressing safety need. Sounds like a votewinner to me. What surprises me is the absence of an effective and vocal pressure group for the motorist. -
Hand held radios (Police) 8 Jun 2003 (Forum)
Also, this was beatifully displayed on the recent BBC1 series on the Met Traffic where the in car camera showed the officer to be exceeding 80mph in an residential street chasing a white Sierra driven by a schoolboy. The narrator told us that PC XXXXX was trained to the highest level. Really! By the way I don't approve use of phones while moving. -
V5/2 10 Mar 2003 (Forum)
I bought a car in Nov. The previous owner hasn't sent the doc off yet (silly boy - I'm immune to cameras!!!) Fortunately the dates beem ommited and (for tax purposes) I will claim I only just bought the car. Others should be careful. You're a shower! You're an absolute shower! -
Right Car Wrong Car outtakes? 4 Mar 2003 (Forum)
What happens if they set it all up, film the reaction of the punter to the cars, wander off to the dealer, do all the hidden camera negotiations, come to a deal - and the dealer says "forget it, I'm not having that hidden footage broadcast on national tv thank you very much"? For the new cars you could go to another dealer and go through the ridiculous charade again, but not for the secondhand ones. -
Paying for Euro Speeding Tickets 5 Mar 2002 (Forum)
In June 2001, I was caught on camera doing 124kph in a 120 kmph zone. To make things complicated, I was driving hire car with German Plates, so by the time I was traced, the summons was sent to me on 15th Jan for a 31 Euro fine Am not proficient in Dutch but the only way to pay is via a euro cheque or through a dutch post office or bank. -
Car options/prices across Europe 19 Feb 2002 (Forum)
Quiet in here today, is everybody still shell-shocked after the speeding camera debate ? On another subject, you might find this is an interesting website. ITs not free, but the one free example they give you was all that I needed. www.eurocote.net/eurocote/index.asp Essentially it compares the prices and options available on vehicles between European countries of your choice. -
Shares in Hairspray set to rocket? 28 Aug 2001 (Forum)
For those that do not have access to this "great british newspaper" it reads and I quote " We have heard regretable stories of angry drivers wrecking speed cameras, or coating their number plates with hairspray to avoid detection by them". Reference the last comment, why have we not been told? Should I off myself to the local supermarket while stocks last? -
Even the church has been roped in 17 Aug 2001 (Forum)
I was very sad to hear Christina Rees of the general synod on radio 4 this morning blandly agreeing with speed cameras... I doubt very much she has done any research into traffic safety matters I dont remember the bible saying we should accept poor road design, or poor traffic policing, or persecution by a small minority I find bringing religion into this debate most offensive Once again the liberal chattering classes are out to get us, they appear to be high up in the church as well!
