escort cabriolet - repairs to a 1992 ford escort cabriolet 4 Mar 2011 (Forum)
My 1992 ford escort cabriolet which has done 75,000 miles and served me well has just blown a head gasket and I,m told by my mechanic that the cams need replacing also as they are wearing. The cost for this wil be around the £600 for both jobs. I also have a battery problem which is draning due to an electrical fault -although I can cope with this even if I had to replace the battery every year but not sure if the car is worth spending £600 seeing as I recently spent approx £500 having new starter motor and alternator. can I have some advice please -

The temperature had rocketed up too. Again the only light on the dash is the battery and no odd noises. The car is in average condition and has done over 117,000miles. Any suggestions? Think the AA might be taking me home as I don't fancy driving home in this condition at 2200 tonight! -

Focus, Transit connect, Mondeo etc - Ford TDci PcM reset 31 Mar 2010 (Forum)
Is there a correct way to reset the PcM on the Ford TDci? I've heard various ideas (after disconnecting the battery for a time to "clear the memory") including "warm the engine on tickover then drive for 10 miles", "drive slowly" "drive fast" "drive normally" etc etc. So after the battery has been disconnected for a few hours is there a "right" way to do it, or do you just drive the vehicle? -
Ford Fiesta (2000 - 2002) - 01 1.6 Car Alarm 11 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Locking and unlocking the doors on both sides did nothing and neither did starting the engine, which is strange considering the key has the red bit (immobiliser I believe). Eventually I had to remove the battery as i could not get into the car without the alarm going off. Every time i reconnect the battery the alarm sounds for a short while and goes off, that is until I try to open the door again! Any Ideas would be greatly appreciated, Carl -

Hi There, hoping for a little assistance if possible! Vauxhall Astra H (2004 - 2009) - 05 1.7CDTi Starting after long period of standing 26 May 2009 (Forum)
The car I have in the UK is a 'new' Astra 1.7CDTi. By the time I get back to it, it will have been standing for 6 months. My querie is, if the battery is TOTALLY flat, ie, no response to remote control door opener/alarm disarmer, how do I get into the car to open the bonnet to charge the battery ? I believe the doors are opened electrically (by solenoid) as a result from either pressing the remote or using the key in the door lock. -

Mondeo - remote locking problem again 9 Aug 2005 (Forum)
After changing the batteries in the key about 5 weeks ago, the remote locking facility on my '97 Mondeo started working again. My joy has been shortlived, however, as yesterday, the remote locking packed up again; it can't be the battery because the tiny red light on the key flashes. -
citroen berlingo dash fault 25 Jan 2005 (Forum)
The rev counter gave up a few month ago but now the dash lights up whenever the ignition is off, and the speedo oscillates between 0 and 10 mph, ultimately this drains the battery. I getting a bit fed up with disconnecting and reconnecting the battery whenever I leave the car for more than a few hours, so does anybody have any ideas on this. The main dealer recommended changing the dash pod to cure the faulty rev counter but didn't know if this would cure the electrical fault and all at a cost of £260+ fitting. -
Brake lights. Peugeot 406 HDi. 2 Jan 2005 (Forum)
The brake lights have stuck in the on position, the only way to turn them off is to disconect the battery, once the battery is reconected however, the lights come on again. Also with the key out of the ignition when i press the brake pedal the dashboard warning lights come on (with the brake lights still on).
