  Perhaps the climate control draw was high? 10 minutes at the most, car won't start.   Hyundai dealer have checked the battery and stated that it tests ok, but needs a 'full trickle charge'. The car charging system apparently will only charge it up 'so far'. The battery isn't faulty (and only has a two year warranty anyway - depsite the Hyundai 5 year warrranty)....

  The car will always start fine whenever this happens and I'm able to pull away without a problem. It started doing this following a flat battery over the Christmas holidays, which I'd recharged.   It does appear that this may be a rather generous SG but I can not find my SG bulb to test it. Clearly taking the battery back is an option but if it is a SG thing then the whole patch will be like it. Has anyone else come across this new initial high voltage or is it really a duff battery. I purchased smaller Fiaam battery for another car 4 months ago and did exactly the same with that but it topped out at 14.6 volts and quickly fell to 12.8 volts.

  If wiring was at fault he suggested that the alternator could act to drain the battery whilst parked. Went to work after a 40 minute drive to get the battery charged up and parked it. Checked voltage/car start every couple of hours and didn't find a reoccurence, maybe the AA man had temporarily fixed it with his fiddling?

  I've got a 2009 Astra and the battery light keeps coming on.   About a month ago, the car broke down completely - the alternator belt snapped, so I was towed home and the local garage fitted a new belt.   All seemed fine, however later that day the battery light started coming on intermittently.

  I've concluded the following: a) The alternator + drive belt are fine b) The starter motor is lazy at first, but otherwise fine c) The battery is dying but is only 10 months old. A reading of 11.9V is indicative of a battery in a fair state of discharge. Do any of you agree with my diagnosis, before I trundle back to Halfords for yet another new battery?

  Went out this morning, the starter didn't even want to engage. I tried the windows, and they were very sluggish ... So, off across the road to local battery/exhaust/tyre place. Explain situation, he says no problem, we jump in his car with toolbox and new battery and back home. He disconnects battery, connects a quick charger to it, and we open the top. dead cell.
